try D-link ports (http://portforward.com/)

pick 5 ports or more if u want (5 files transferes at one time)
and forward them on ur router
then go to ur mIRC > Tools > options > DCC > Options > DCC ports
put the same 5 ports ur picked
p.s. i dont think it would differs much with ur speed if it is working alright already .. altho it may make u able to send and resume downloads ;)

wait...i have sbc yahoo dsl with a 2WIRE modem. how do i find out wat kind of router i have?

check ur router drivers name if it is on USB connection to ur pc
or if it on LAN the just the router chip itself .. whats the router name/mode ? easy cake
