Changed From Fx5200 To R9600xt

ok yes i realise this is a half hardware half gameworld post, but stick with it this time.

i cant play GTA Vice City anymore. I double click the shortcut and it loads for a split second then does nothing.

i download about 4 different nocd patches but no such luck.

if some1 could post me the normal no cd .exe for vice city that wud be much appreciated.

also a reinstall is impossible because iv lost the cds. lol. i think my mate has them, but he thinks otherwise.

Actually, if what you are saying is that you do not have the disks anymore, then that is the reason why you cannot play the game anymore. I don&#39;t see how exactly that has anything to do with your card. You need to get CD 2 and place it into the CD drive for the game to work.

Isnt there some sort of test that you run with the game, maybe its trying to play with the old card instead of the new card....

Isnt there some sort of test that you run with the game, maybe its trying to play with the old card instead of the new card....

i dont think its your card. it plays fine on my 9600xt at 1024 x 768 with FSAA 4x and AA 4x

yer i realise it should be working, but i think something mustve happened when i swaped graphic cards,...

... i think i had a special patch because some of the fx range cards have problems with that game, but realising this i thort that redownloading a fresh .exe wud work but it doesnt...

...if some1 cud plz post me the .exe. that wud be great, my email is in my sig.

yer i saw heaps of them today when i was looking out on the road,

but yeah i have the latest drivers for my card, its not that, its gotta do sumthing with the game, the fx5200 fix thing,

Install this deleted crack.

this might sounds obivous, but did you remove your old geforce drivers before you installed the card? if not do it NOW. the drivers might be conflicting with each other.

when you install the game the first time you play it optimizes the game for YOUR video card so that the game will look best and still be able to play, but once youve changed the card vice city doesnt recognize the card anymore and doesnt start....the only thing you can do is reinstall the game.

yeah i uninstalled it the night before i got my 9600xt and then re-install it. if you dont got the CD&#39;s that was a big mistake not having a back up copy. plus this game is thta good.

ok i know you guys are going to hate me for this one but i have tried it all

i have the 2 folders:

each containing what i think is the cd image of gta vice city...

55 items in the 1st folder
51 files in the 2nd

theyre all named similar flt-vca.002, flt-vca.003, flt-vca.004 etc....

and i dont know how to turn these into .bin .cue....

please dont say "go to the pinned topic in software world because i have tried that,

ive tried extracting, rar&#39;ing, compressing, anything, but i cant seem to get it into the .bin and .cue files.

i have done this b4 in recent times with halo, and nfsu etc.

:helpsmile: if sum1 could pm, or add me to msn and ill go thru it with them in more detail that would be great

oh i still have the game installed, and yep ive uninstalled all previous graphic card drivers :)

uhhhhhhhhh are u sure you have tried extracting w/ winrar? if it doesnt work, you go out of the folder, then right click on it, and then choose "delete".....becuz it prob corrupted

Did you follow it right? :blink:

Double click the flt-vca.001 file, if a window comes up what to use to open it choose "Select the program from a list" Scroll down. select WinRAR and press okay(if WinRAR isn&#39;t in the list browse to where you installed it and select it). WinRAR should open and it should list the file inside the archives, highlight them all, right click and press extract file to specified folder. Choose a folder, wait fo it to finish, then look in the folder you just choose the files should be there...
