I just installed Avant Browser a couple days ago but it seems to hang once in awhile and the pages don't load as quick..though it's ok and I haven't tried the others yet. Been with Internet Explorer so long there is nothing else that caught my eye :D

I love IE. It is not loaded down with wierd graphics to slow you down. It is very easy to use and fast, what is there not to love about it?

I've been using avant browser for about a year and a half and i love it, it has a lot of really good features. it's really just a skinning thing for IE though so if you like IE you will love Avant cuz it is exactly the same except with more/better features.

People should vote for IE only if they have at least tried one other browser mentioned in the list above.

I, ofcourse, use MyIE2. Great plugins, low memory usage, excellent speed,
what else

ITS SWEET! :D

How do all the Opera and Mozilla users use Windows Update?
Dont tell me you have Internet Explorer installed for that?...LMFAO <_<

Ill post the question again..
How do all the window users access windows update with opera or mozilla based browsers?
Not with IE6 I hope

Any more smart remarks u wannabe gangsta?...muhahahahahaha!!!!

h1
02-18-2004, 07:10 PM
It doesn't work, because Windows Update uses ActiveX, which Firefox does not support intentionally. :)

You use IE. :o

Java Boy
02-18-2004, 07:28 PM
I use MYIE2 which is based on IE6 engine, with a few differences(dont ask me what exactly cause I havent been using it long)
it has tabbed browsing etc, and a lot of features that mozilla has etc.
But the standout point I thought, was that it lets u access Windows update. It supposedly has a lot less Securtiy flaws in it than IE6...
I like it so i uninstalled Internet Explorer 6 as i can access windows update without the need to have IIE6 installed

MYIE2, Avant & a bunch of other "browsers" are NOT browsers. They are IE add-ons and will NOT work without IE installed. Mozilla, FireFox & others are independent browsers. As is Opera as well. I use Opera 7.23 wo java 99% of the time & IE6 1%.

You answered your own question.

Due to the unfortunate (and some may say monopolistic <_<) circumstance that IE in an integrated and unremovable part of Windows (unless you use some kind of radical "surgery" program like XPlite), every Windows users has IE installed. However, like many others, a program installed isn't the same as a program used; it's inability to p*** off is the only reason it sits on a few people's computers still.

As for Windows Update, truth be told the matter isn't really that big a deal; many get the updates manually by downloading the patches and running them locally. The rest just don't bother - I haven't used Windows Update since the start of November. Surprisingly though, my versions of ZoneAlarm and Norton Antivirus are reguarly updated - As they seem to do a lot better role in making security holes unusable than Microsoft's "hotfixes" seem to do <_<

I dont have Internet Explorer installed so how is MYIE2 an "add-on" as you put it? <_< <_<
Its based on the engine though(IE6 engine)

zapjb

Believe it or not. You didn't uninstall IE or MYIE2 wouldn't work. "Based on the IE engine", means it's being used. So it's still installed. Sure you went through all the normal process to uninstall IE, but that doesn't work with IE. IE's still on your computer.

Java Boy
02-18-2004, 10:00 PM
Internet explorer isnt, but the engine is... ;)

zapjb
02-18-2004, 11:19 PM
I'm not explaining this well, sorry. There is a way to totally uninstall IE (read: rip it out of your OS). But this is not not advisable as many programs such as KL, Avant browser, MYIE2 and others would not run. You might have disabled IE, but you didn't uninstall IE.

Java Boy
02-18-2004, 11:30 PM
I go to programfiles/internet explorer and its empty......????
I have shortcuts for it in my start menu(pinned in XP) and click on it and guess what?..it tells me the shortcut points to nowhere......Thats because i uninstalled it...
What it left behind during the uninstall is the "ENGINE" that IE6 uses as well as MYIE2..
I can-not launch a Internet Explorer browser because its no longer there.
Hope I made that explanation easier to understand

Maybe Illuminati Posted on 18 February 2004 - 16:18 said it better.

So unless you did something like that, IE is still installed on your computer. Disabled yes/maybe but still installed none the less.

We have been over this before.

LMAO................Im sure you have sense enough to know that people with windows do not have to use windows update site as most of the critical updates can be downloaded from Microsoft's Download Site (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en) and "not" windows update site using ie. :)
