Luckily people can't complain too much this time cause the old forum is still there. The reason for this "serious" lounge are complaints.

People are not happy if they just want to talk and have to click 50 spam topics until they find a "real discussion" without one liners and hijacking.

We just did what people asked us for and there is no negative side cause the old "Let's just post spam" lounge is still there.

Suggestions:

Why not rename this to "Introduce Yourself here" and still call the other forum "The Lounge."

Make some pinned topics in this section that aim at new members. So topics like "How to send pm&#39;s and when can I send" & "how to navigate and post in the right section" should be posted in one single pinned topic with title maybe "Board Tutorial" or "Guide to the Board" etc.

Just a thought.

This is very interesting.

Alot of the needed changes are/were common sense.
This board is starting to remind me of American politics.
Problems that are plain as the light of day and are very easy to make are ignored or postponed.

If you take a look at my Spammer Links thread (especially my last post) all of this was obvious 90 posts ago.

No one listens.

Easy and obvious changes.

1. Sportsworld should be a sub-topic ALONGSIDE the Lounge, World News and Events. Not sure but Funny Stuff should be in the Lounge. What I mean is just post funny stuff in the Lounge.

2. All of these

posts should NOT count

3. Leave skins be. I liked the fact of allowing the old skins and new. Nice one.

4. All this damn spamming should MODERATED. I see topics with the sam(e) names (pun intended). Bullshit topics like say some word or just breath....WTF&#33;&#33;&#33;
This is a direct result of how the board is being run. Hell I was ready NOT to post in the Lounge again and go to General Mayhem as a Lounge. It&#39;s like watching a bunch of 10 year olds post.
I know it&#39;s the Lounge but damn........The Paris Hilton Porno is like the most worthwhile topic there. <_<

I kinda suggested in a couple of posts about a more serious discussion area but never PM&#39;d anyone or anything....as far as this working it wont unless the users let it...think where the problem with the spam stuff and the lets just type x messages is the post count thingie...altho I wuld not even have my stars if not for the post counting in the lounge..however i have tried to be serious in the serious threads and ignoring the more "lets just post to get stars threads"

I wuld say thats its more difficult to curb sillyness in an area that by defintion "everything goes" like the lounge....

See the whole post count argument that comes up time and again is just silly in my opinion. Most people that I know on this board who post in the lounge that I have spoken to don&#39;t care about post counts. In fact it&#39;s more of a joke to us.

I mean what can I actually do with it...I can&#39;t exactly trade them in for beer tokens can I?

I&#39;d be in favour of removing them altogether just to stop this silly argument coming up time and time again (usually from people who got their post counts up before the change...).

That&#39;s exactly the point why this additional forum was added. It makes no sense to rewrite the rules because of all the spam / pointless posts going on. A better way is to let people decide what they want.

Many people don&#39;t care about spam - that&#39;s right, but there are people who complain to us all the time. We get PM&#39;s asking why we don&#39;t delete multi topic spam posts and also PM&#39;s asking us to better watch the lounge cause "it&#39;s impossible to find an interesting discussion without finding spam all over the place"...

The "old lounge" has forum rules. There is no difference posting in the old lounge or in our music world. The same rules apply to all forums. It&#39;s just that the "new lounge" is a place where people can discuss without spammers, hijackers, flamers and off topic talk within posts.

The new lounge is not a place for "better people" but it is a place where people will find interesting topics instantly instead to browse 150 samsamsam topics, 30 "open thought" posts or 5 locked topics per page.

We feel (and know from PM&#39;s) that people are looking for a place to start more serious discussions without to worry about

"ok"
"interesting"
"i&#39;m just human"
"lol"
" :lol: :lol: :lol: "

and similar posts.

We are not against off topic talk but there has to be a place where people can just discuss. Many people are annoyed cause they browse 10 pages to find one great post and that&#39;s where the new forum will help.



@ posts counting / not counting in the lounge
The funny thing is that I disabled post counts in the lounge for like 2 weeks and nobody noticed it. I wanted to see it myself if people really care about post counts or not but nobody even noticed ;)

I think we don&#39;t need to discuss if post counts change anything cause if it really IS the case then humans are just stupid since it&#39;s just a number and worth nothing.

Edit: I think it makes more sense to give all members 5 stars from the beginning cause stars indicate nothing anyway.

that maybe true but everyone is also always typing about them..like I got my (insert number of stars here) posts...and that is the only reason I can think of someone to post an "lets post an X thread"..cant even see why thats funny....

I guess the stars do serve some type of purpose...can see some reasons for them..but really no big deal for me except thats what most users look at and i could see how the number of stars may affest how u r treated...looked at...responded to..etc..

Well as my brain slowly wakes up this morning I am beginning to warm to the idea, I can see the merits of having a place for serious discussion seperate. To be honest this weekend&#39;s activities had me thinking this was soon happen. Even I get annoyed when one of my more serious topics get hijacked...

Though I do think the old lounge needs a better name than "Off Topic Talk" :lol:



@evildon: The guy who started the "x" thread is a master of irrelevant thread but I think he is one of the last people to care about post counts... :lol:

(Okay, maybe Spamfest may not be the best name for it, but you get the idea.)

It would save confusion by giving a clear and unmistakeable indication of what that forum section is for.

I think it should be changed back to The Lounge and we name the new lounge something different...this will both avoid confusion and give us the chance to have a poll. :lol:

There are many ways to solve this problem but I think the current one is the best one cause it doesn&#39;t harm anybody at all.

We all know that the lounge is a problem forum but I really think the current setup is better than doing something like this:

We could alter the rules and stop spamming / nonsense posts
This option would make us the "asses" who only care about rules. Soon people would start to cry about censorship, freedom of speech and so on.

Right now nobody can complain. If you post something into the old lounge and it gets hijacked, spammed or flamed then it&#39;s your fault cause you have the option to post it into the new lounge and our mods take care that nothing happens.

Cleaning the old lounge was no option cause there are too many posts. Changing the overall rules was no option cause the rules are fine for all other areas.

I believe we found the right way to offer more freedom :)

Ok, when I first saw this i was pissed off at yet another change, but its ok, we can adapt, I can set a favorite entry to "The Chat Bar" so i dont have to go through the bloody menu system, but please can we have the chat bar renamed to The Lounge? For many members the chat bar was the lounge, and essentially the lounge was designed for chat and off-topic talk, so please can we have a name change?

But last changes - although I am opened - makes me feeling the place will
not be furthermore the same when I joined it and due to many new stricter
rules no open thoughts would be allowed.

First I was thinking that is because the Board Server has not enough space,

I hear ya about how you are fixing the problem but these problems were NOT here before.
You say you disabled post counts for 2 weeks and nobody noticed but there ARE people that post and spam in general to get "5 stars". Whether you cut&#39;em off temporarily or not they understood them to count so that&#39;s part of the problem.
I was one for getting rid of post counts in the topic areas.

But one fact is definitely true. All this spamming was not here before (not to this degree) and it is a direct correlation to counting posts in the Lounge or whatever it&#39;s called now.

I know you like change. You even had a poll about Friendworld. :lol: <_< but good lord man, I hear folks saying, "I like the changes" then later say this is fucked up. :lol:
Adding a new world every week or putting a band-aid on a problem does not fix it.

Use common sense...many of you don&#39;t now what a free for all is.

I recommend the "old lounge" be called

Mayhem
Looters
Riots
or simply Free-For-All :lol: :lol: :lol:

btw- I don&#39;t even know why posts count in Lounge. That wasn&#39;t even a suggestion by a member. A mod or admin came up with that. I think that was before 7th though.

i like the idea of a place for serious discussions, i like the world news place and if this lounge does stay on course for other none the less serious issues then i am all for it.
I would say to the people that made this site that you do a very good job and to the people that complain ...well you don&#39;t have to come here, if you can do better i suggest you do it yourself.
i did post an idea in the chat bar....a real chat room. This would mean a lot of hard work for the developers but i am sure if properly run it would be a thrashing success. I do realise that it would often turn into a childish flaming area, but as i said properly run it could work.
good job keeping the old lounge running as sometimes a bit of spoiling spam can be amusing.

vidcc you are basically new here. The point was that the old Lounge was basically run the way you are talking about. I know this is a good site; keep in mind I&#39;m only talking about the Lounge and not Movieworld or Gameworld.
Spam was always a problem but this amount spam across multiple topics AND users was not.

..........about people leaving that complain, it&#39;s already happening. I for one was actually cool until recently and then I started "boo hooing" :sadwalk: (regarding the Lounge). I agree if you don&#39;t like then leave. Which is why, until this new Lounge came about, I was going to use Genmay.com as my Lounge.

So we now have 2 lounge areas - well allright then :)

I&#39;m trying to think of what impact it will have on me personally - none as far as i can see - therefore i have no objections... even if i did i guess the only thing would be to ignore the place, but it dosn&#39;t so i wont. I&#39;m just a member of this board like anyone else but have seen many many changes here - some good some bad, but in the end its still just a board - not my life :)

Just hope that the aspirations of 7th are lived up to and that the members appreciate whats trying to be done or at least try to help out by sticking to the rules (including yours truly of course) - doubt it though, thats the way we humans are - allways have to moan and groan about something when nothing else is happening.

As allways, if people don&#39;t like it, then they can leave, or at least ignore the lounge area - there are many many more filesharing boards out there whiach are far more stricter than this - some even more relaxed than this ;)
