@ Nigel:

My favourite is just Jupiler, I love it, and I really miss it :(

@ Jonno: There really is a big difference, a lot more 'fizz' in Belgian beer, I like it that way. Not a big fan of cider I'm afraid :)

Na, there are two empty bottles of 'Olde English' in the kitchen, think I had one glass of that. I really don't like the taste of cider

Feck, reminds me I really need to do some cleaning around here :(

Here 's a basket full of your fav's skweek!!

http://www.belgiumbymail.com/images/special_beer.jpg

(more to follow)

In the days i still was drinking, i used to make my own beer with some friends.

We allmost started a brewery, even had a whole factory on sight for buying, but

it didn' t work out, sadly....

Our best effort was Bussems bier, "Ouwe Taaie".

It was tried at some special beercafe's and got very high marks!!

With 9,5 % you just needed one to get totally smashed!!

I will try to find the design of the label, cos it was quite funny.

Pear cider is very nice :)

Irealy like the triple brewed beers in belgium (can't remember name), also palm and duvel. Belgian beer is much nicer than british brewed beer. :01:

skweeky you can buy leffe blond in big litre and a half bottles in tesco's across scotland. or in edinburgh in a bar called the standing order they sell it. i first tasted it when a female friend brought it back over from belgium for me. it is nice beer. not as nice as hoegardeen (sp?) though.

Yeah I know SD, but I prefer the dark Leffe to the blond one, it has a fuller taste.

As for Hoegaerden....it's ok I guess, I'm not too fond of it but I can appreciate it on a hot summer day with a slice of lemon in it.

I think you are referring to Hoegaarden White.

There are actually a number of Hoegaarden beertypes.

I liked the "Grand Cru" very much!!

Old Speckled Hen

Smoothest, most tasteful ale there is

If you want lager crap, Carlsberg, Special Brew, Grolsch, all pretty much the same, ill drink it but i prefer the real stuff.

Alcoholic beverage manufacturers and critics have developed an entire lexicon to describe the characteristics and of a fine wine or beer.

I say, fuck it, we drink to get drunk, nothing more. Anything will do, and that is why American beers taste like water. Don't want the horrible taste of alcohol to get in the way of a trip torward intoxication.

All that crap about body, flavor and vintage is just bollocks to attempt to legitimize and even grandeurize the consumption of alcohol.

Drink alcohol, get fucked up, and don't pretend you are doing something other than a getting drunk.

So you're saying it doesn't matter what one drinks, we just do it to get drunk?

If I go to a pub and don't have the choice to drink a decent lager, then I go for wine or whisky. I just can't get drunk on stuff I don't like ( or I'd have to be really desperate of course)
