Hmmm... I'm not sure on any official programs but gamers like myself will use software to chat in-game and they're pretty good quality. Only problem is, the other party will need to be connected as well, so no calling is done.

I'll leave this on here in any case...

It's certainly possible to do, but there really isnt any point that i can see. The modem is still calling that persons normal line number, so its not saving you any money on your phone bills. Not only that, but the audio quality is going to suffer for going through your pc.

Easier to just put a phone next to your pc.

Wrong.

voip (voice over ip) is becoming 10 times more popular because It basically allows you to make long distance calls for free

There were some programs but now they cost money because telecom providers are pissed off at the protocol. Hehe, they dont make money from voip.

I dont game but for all you that have thoose multiplayer thingies like group games where you can talk to each other that is an example voip. :)

@Night Ass you have to search real hard for a free program that does that as they are not as widely freely available as they used to be.

Skype is only good to use from PC to PC..along the same lines as Yahoo Instant Messenger(voice)...but they are in the stages of future advancement...maybe the few sites listed below might help you, there still are a lot more to choose from. B)
