I have 3 computers, Athlon xp2800, Duron 1300 and P3 866. All have multiple partitions and multiple installations and Geforce 64mb VGA cards and 512mb memory.
The Duron reboots in the middle of games randomly though less since I upgrade the processor from 850hz.
With the Athlon, the mouse jumps like crazy on both partitions Xp and XP pro, and I have adjusted the settings to slow it down but it still gets hairy on some of the graphic intensive maps.
The P3 runs great.
Does anyone else have any ideas to help solve this?
I have absolutely no problems with other games such as Call of Duty or Age of Mythology so I'm thinking there is something I'm missing. I've looked around and seen sporadic messages on sites but no fixes that have worked. I've tried all the patches and different video card drivers, Directx9, adjusted the game settings but they don't seem to help. We usually play LAN games but it's the same in Single player mode too.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

The graphics card you stated will have severe trouble trying to cope with the demands of Battlefield 1942.

Nothing wrong with AMD, I use them, and have had no trouble.

I suggest upgrading your graphics card, asap.

Any suggestions on a card that's not too pricey?
The Athlon has a geforce 5200 64mb.
The other 2 have Geforce mx440 64mb cards and it runs fine with the pentium on high resolution so I won't need to change that one.
I figured Call of Duty would be harder on the card and it doesn't miss a beat.

But what do I know?

Thanks

Well I wouldn't look for anything below an ATI Radeon 9500.

It's fairly chap if you know where to look. Where are you from?

I'm in Nimes France. Unfortunately there are not a lot of computer stores in this town.
I found a Radeon 9600 SE 125mb for 90€. Thats about 120$ US. I would like to use a lower end card if possible.
I did find RADEON 9200SE 128mb for 60$ US. Would that be a good enough card?
We aren't heavy duty gamers but my wife and daughter can't get enough of trying to kick my ass in this game.

Thanks Again

Well I'm sure you've heard of the saying "You only get what you pay for"

It's true.

If you end up getting a lower end graphics card, you're going to have a lower end enjoyment. Just a thought.

I'll look into some bargains for you, but I seriously suggest nothing below a 9500 ATI. Don't look in your local shops... most bargains can be found on the Internet.

The stores here do have the cards you've listed and most(not all) at an average of 20€ less than the Brit sites.
I guess wifey is going to get a belated Valentines gift.
Thanks again for your help.
