OK now im officially confused....

my athlon xp 2000+, before i upgraded, ran at 1600GHz.....

but now after installing a new gigabyte mobo, and radeon 9600xt.... its tells me that it is running at 1.2GHz

i am going to cry if i find out that iv fucked up something... :( ...

lol.   what is going on ? :01:

is this fixable? why has it changed???

your front side bus is running at 200mhz instead of 266.

edit: The right FSB and multiplier: 133*12.5=1662.5mhz
The wrong FSB and multiplier: 100*12.5=1250mhz...

lynx

You need to change your FSB to 133MHz.

The multiplier for your chip is 12
Your current FSB must be 100MHz
100MHz x 12 = 1200MHz
133MHz x 12 = 1600MHz

A simple bios change.

Edit: correction, I mean base frequency not FSB.

sorry im a bit of a newb when it comes to fsb...

can you tell me if i can change this? if so, how?

there will be the option in the bios somewher to change the front side bus (fsb) and multiplier although u only do the front side bus.

If that doesnt work there might be a jumper on the board somewhere but its usually done in teh bios now.

It's in your BIOS settings in "Advanced Chipset Features."

Set the FSB Frequency to: 133

ok thanks...

ill do it now and ill tell ya the results....
p.s can i put the fsb on the highest setting??? safely..
or is there no point?

say 400mhz

Virtualbody1234
02-24-2004, 03:02 AM
No! 400 is too high for that CPU.

bigdawgfoxx
02-24-2004, 03:04 AM
NO WHOA!! NOOO haha

Just find a setting that says 100Mhz. Change that to 133Mhz and look for something that says Front Side Bus by it.

You sent me a that PM about helping you.

Download aim and get a name..and ill talk to you on there when you get your 2500XP...no need in bringing up another thread on here lol :)

that would be overclocking it, it would be at 200*12.5=2500mhz which is quite high...try running it at 333mhz (166) and you will get the speeds of an athlon xp 2600+.

Virtualbody1234

Before you attempt any overclocking, be sure you understand the risks and how to get out of trouble.

im not sure about your motehrboard but on mine if i set a jumper on teh motherboard to 100 my processor cant be changed from the bios but if i switch the jumper to the 133 position it can be set in teh bios to the 100fsb. its wierd. So what im saying is to check your manual to see if there are any jumpers relating to fsb.

edit: btw, this (http://139.95.253.214/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=17,E=0000000000095810703,K=3801,Sxi=7,Case=obj(1224)) is where i am getting my info on teh fbs and multiplier from.

check the friggin manual! lol j/k. Vb and adam both posted an online manual multiple times and you could also find it yourself by using google or going to the gigabyte website so do that and stop making everybody else find stuff for you.

is that under the same section as the fsb in BIOS??

There is a switch right beside the northbridge fan.

ok according to the manual....... i downloaded it ok...........

the first step is

Set system jumper.. (CLW_SW) & (CLK_RATION)
The clock ration can be switched by CLK_RATION and refer to below table... (ill try and upload it soon) The system bus frequency can be switched at 100Mhz and auto by adjusting CLK_SW

lol i have no idea what that means... whats the name of that site you upload pictures to?>??

open it in paint, go to image>stretch\scew>type 80% for the top two thigs then ok then save it and upload again.

edit: and hes right about teh turning it on thing, a jumper ahs 3 pins and only 2 positions, on and off, so if it is off right now switch it to on or if its off switch to on

Your lucky it's a board that just has one switch for the fsb.

I have a board and it has like 6 rows of pins and they have to be connected the propper way fro the correct fsb.

BTW, that board looks freakin nice !!
