I just updated my AVG Virus Scan 7.0 Pro Edition with a "Recommended Update" via the built-in Live Update .... and it mysteriously changed into AVG Virus Scan Email Server Edition ...

Has this happened to anyone else? How do I get back to the Pro version .... I don't need the Email Server version ...

Can anyone confirm that this is happening to the AVG Free version?

If it doesn't, this might be due to the key that we used ... maybe it corresponds to the Email Server and not the Pro in this new version ... doubtful though ...

I just completely uninstalled AVG 7 and dl'ed the newest updated version of 7 Pro from their website ...Ran a new installation with a fresh CD Key ... After the installation, upon first run, the AVG main window still says Email Server Ediiton

How abt the free version? Is it acting the same way tool ....

BTW ... what is the story with the free version ... would it work on a single PC on my home network?

Their website says that it won't work in any networked environment .. but I'm assuming this is for users who want an Anti Virus program ohich will protect all PCs in a networked environment ..

I only want it for a single PC .. which forms a home network due to my router ... The other PC has its own AntiVirus prog ..

I don't even believe that this is the true Email Server Edit ...

AVG Email Server Edit. provides protection for email servers (email servers currently supported - MS Exchange 5.5/2000/2003, Lotus Notes / Domino, Kerio mail Server, Lan Suite 602 and Linux). AVG removes viruses from incoming email messages - ensuring that they cannot harm the computer - and deals with them according to rules defined by the user. AVG Anti-Virus can even be set as a filter for undesireable or suspicious files, according to criteria such as the file extension type. Also, AVG Email Server Edition includes AVG File Server Edition, which provides comprehensive antivirus protection for Microsoft Windows NT4/2000/2003 and Linux file servers. Licenses for AVG Email Server Edition are calculated based on the number of mailboxes/accounts on the server.

AVG Email Server Edition includes:

AVG ESE for Exchange 5.5
AVG ESE for Exchange 2000/2003
AVG ESE for Lotus Notes/Domino
AVG ESE for Kerio Mail Server
AVG ESE for LanSuite 602
AVG for Linux i386

We don't have the things in Bold ... at least I can't find them ...
and if we do have them and they're running, they're just using up extra resources ..
