If you use Irc then you know all about the .tar files.

Inside those .tar files are a bunch of .rar files. Then inside those .rar files are either .bins, or .avis or anyother file.

Have you ever been tired of downloading a movie in a .tar format then having to extract all the files over and over again until you get the .avi? It takes 3x the amount of space to extract all the files compared to downloading the original.

Well, I found out VLC (VideoLan) can open .tar files straight up. It only works for the movies though (dont quote me on this) :D .

It'll save you a lot of time, so next time your looking for movies, get the ones that are either .tar or .avi if you don't want to have to extract anything!

It saves sooo much time, cpu usage, and hard drive space!

Just thought everyone should know!

I just wanted to note that I'm talking about movies to download without burning them on cd. Just ones that you want to watch then later delete. It's worth the try to put it in vlc.

They may be the best if you want to burn them to SVCD but they are defenitely NOT the best if you look for good quality and a small filesize
