As for smooth , remember that the N64 was apparently a bitch to emulate - no matter how good your hardware , you're gonna get wildly varying performance. Be warned.

Project 64 is a great emulator. It supported a lot of commercial games (like F-Zero, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and even Evangelion - japanese game) and it ran really well (for me at least). One thing that is a bit weird is playing with a keyboard. There's so many buttons on the N64 pad it gets a bit confusing and frustrating when playing games with a keyboard.

That emu is amazing, just get a good controller.

I still play Perfect dark multiplayer on my PC

1964 0.9.9 (http://1964emu.emulation64.com/) is by far the best N64 emulator I've ever used, and trust me, I've tried them all, and I have a crappy computer too. 1964 runs all my roms like butter....it's great. Don't forget to get the latest plugins. (http://www.emutalk.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=80)

1964 Is the best. If Rice's plug-in doesn't work for you thouggh you should download Glide64 and Evodoo.
