It means to agree with someone.

eg

person 1: Yo man that bitch had nice titties

person 2: Word!!

Or you could answer in 50cent way.

person 1: Yo man that bitch had nice titties

person 2: Fo' Shizzle Dizzle my Nizzle (i added Nizzle in their)

Past history versions of "word".

In the 60's, it meant "groovy" or "peace" (signal)
In the 70's, it meant "cool".
In the 80's, it meant "totally".
In the 90's, it meant "awesome".

its funny to see someone ask bout a word used often... like around here. Though there's time I gotta ask for a definition of a word used over your way.... like 'minger'. Was lost on that one. :D

Not to be confused with "The Word" which that God dude apparently has.

Although I have never seen "The word of God" I hear he has one..

I wonder what it is....

I bet it's HIPPOPOTAMUS
