View Full Version : Kerry Or Bush For President

Sorry if this has been done before, but just interested in who you folks are going to vote for the USA presidency.

Obviously Kerry is going to win the Democratic nomination, so he's got my vote.

I would have rather voted for Dean but people are so judgmental when it comes to a little enthusiasm.

What about YOU.

Well, yeah, Kerry is going to get my vote, but if I had it my way, Edwards would be president.

Have you an affinity for lawyers?

Edwards is here to pave the way! ;)

Much as it pains me, Bush will get my vote, but you all knew that already, didn't you? :)

I'd like to go to Washington with a camera crew and and some sort of implement for thumping melons.

Show Mr. Moore how it should have been done. ;)

I would begin with the Senate and the House..... :D

I voted for Edwards on Super Tuesday.

I noticed he dropped out. Hopefully he will be Kerry's running mate.

I have already predicted this eventuality.

Kerry will see that his best hope will be improving his chances in the south, and, only Edwards can help there.

I noted some of the pundits are thinking Graham or Nelson from Florida; never happen.

Florida isn't a southern state by any measure other than geography.

Do you know any of those parties' candidates? :P

Either way - My vote's for Kerry. Kerry seems to be having a whirlwind campaign that seems to be getting better although the slander campaign may have caused a bit of damage.

Add the whole episode of the Iraq war (not just the war itself, but before & after it), and I think that Kerry's going to be the next President. Truth be told though, I think Kerry's win would probably be down to more people not wanting Bush in another term than people wanting Kerry in office.

Still, there's only one thing I can wish for - Someone expand the Monster Raving Loony Party to America! :D

Yes, in fact, I do know who those candidates are.

But seeing as I have my own federal election coming up in the spring, I find it would be slightly more relative to focus on my own country's political parties and candidates. Can't do much about whomever you Yanks bring into office anyway. ;)

Edit: As the poll is asking "who will win," I've had a terrible sinking feeling that it'll be another four years of George. Hopefully, I'll be wrong.

Well j2k4 I can now honestly say that Bush will not win.

He will not by far.

He has thoroughly pissed off the gay voters with this Amendment fiasco.

He would have been ok had he just said, "I am not for gay marriage", but by trying to actually amend the Constitution to say so, was political suicide.

He would have to steal the election (like last time).

btw He has even pissed off alot of Repubs on other issues.

Stick a fork in'em he's done.

Unfortunately, I think he will gain votes with this strategy. It will solidify the right wing Christian fundamentalist vote, while the Democrats will lose a small number of votes to Nader. If its as close as it was last time this could be enough to tip the scales.

Not that having the most votes or winning the election means anything in the US anymore.. ;)

The real question here is "will the US be a democracy again after the 4 year break"?

Busyman-

On that issue, stay tuned; nothing has even happened yet.

Oh, yes-

The Mayor of New Paltz, New York has been arrested, but others continue to break the law with relative impunity.

When Bush actually begins to campaign, I fear you might really become offended.

Hey, I heard that some fella from Arkansas wants the laws re-written so he can be Kerry's veep running mate...what's his name?

There is/will be a movement to alter the qualifying laws for Presidential candidacy to align them with the enlightened political correctness.

The Governor of Michigan (my state) is a lovely and gracious democrat by the name of Jennifer Granholm; she is being touted as presidential timber by various interests.

She is blessed with the extraordinary looks of the surfer girl she was while growing up in California.

Problem:

She is Canadian by birth.

It will be very interesting to observe the coming debate on this point.

I'd grudgingly vote for Kerry if I were American.

I found even Paul Wellstone too conservative though.

It's funny how one can support DOMA, the DMCA, and the "PATRIOT" Act and still be seen as a liberal.

I recall being surprised at the number of votes on the gay marriage thread. Although there would appear to be only 20 or 30 regular contributers in the World News area, about 3 times that number voted in that particular.

Possibly J2s silent majority? (although technically by voting they deselected themselves from that category  )

You need to pick a meaty topic to get people to come into the world news or talk room :frusty: Besides...anything that isn't directly American can't possibly be "world" news. If it was then next you'll be telling me that it's not really the "world series"

I find it funny how anyone can use terms such as "silent" majority. How do you know if they are silent? They probably don't vote because they find nobody worthy of recieving their vote. It's a pity there isn't the brewsters millions option on the ballot paper (none of the above), perhaps many that don't bother voting now would, just so they could put their x in that box.
It's no secret that i think Bush is the worst pres. ever, but i am still not convinced that Kerry will deliver all he is promising to (which pres. ever does?) That said he has to be better than Bush.

I think if we include all the youngsters that figure makes more sense.

The regular contributors in WN&E are far fewer; however I think there might be a few lurking voters.

What exactly do you expect the winner to "fix"?

Why not have Al Qaeda fix a few more things?

They're more popular than the U.S. right now, and obviously much more capable and effective in the international arena; a true force for the global good, don't you think?

Uh-oh-

and damn al qaeda for turning vacation into such a negative thing. before 9-11-2001, vacation was viewed as a good thing, but now people seem to think that my favorite relax-aholic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bush) is lazy and irresponsible just because he enjoys taking a lot more paid vacation than the average citizen or the average president does. Just so, but the comparison to Clinton is somewhat misleading, as he was never really on the job, even in the oval office.

well, if getting an occasional "quickie" on his lunch break with a fat intern is any incentive for the president to spend more time around the white house and less time goofing off at the ranch, maybe it's not such a bad thing... ;)

That's actually named after Bush Senior, but I like the irony nonetheless.

I'd like to propose a new poll RF:

Options:

1) I'm American and I will vote for the Republican candidate George W. Bush
2) I'm American and I will vote for the Democrat candidate John Kerry
3) I'm American and I will not vote for either
4) I'm not American but I would like George W. Bush to be re-elected
5) I'm not American but I would like John Kerry to be elected
6) I'm not American but I don't want either to win

Might give a more interesting result ;)
