Recently several members at another board I visit have stated that they are getting several virus emails lately. I am pondering the fact that they are coming from a disgruntled member of that board.
The sender feild is always your email addy with a little modification such as 3D added to the beginning of your email name or just double the name, ex. skelley521 skelley521; 3Dskelley521.
The virus is always the same though, W32.Netsky.C@mm

So I was just wondering if anyone here has been experiencing such email activity?

Thanks,
Steve

The address is usually spoofed by W32.Netsky.C@mm so there is no way to tell where it comes from

Not sure that I understand the spoofing thing??

W32.Netsky.C@mm is the virii recongized by my anti-virus.
It has come by several types of attachments, mostly .rar files.

Yes I've been getting a lot of emails like that. The thing is, however, that my ISP (and Yahoo as well), remove the virus from the email before they deliver it to you.

Don't know which ISP (or webmail) you are using, but if it doesn't have security features such as virus detection and removal, I recommend you switch over :)

In my yahoo account (whihc is the 1 I use for this board). I found like 4-5 emails that I knew they were a virus and my yahoo mail states that they actuallly contain a virus. I got these emails many times...

It couldn't be from anyone here because you can't send attachments with the internal email button. There's no way they would have your real address unless you gave it to them, or unless they were a mod.

Most of them dont reach me. Ya, postmaster DOESNT have any virus filtering at the moment. What they DO have, on the other hand, is this neat little filter that blocks emails originating from residential IP numbers. So no, i dun have any. :P
