I am wanting to get this case (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=55549) and this window (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=56745) for the case. And to move everything to my new case I assumed all i did was move the hardware from the current case into the new case. Then i thought to myself where is some of the stuff going to go. I bought a Sony PCV-RX201 PC about 2 years ago and it came with stuff like memory stick connection (as shown below) and i.LINK connection (dont even know what that is). Here are some images of my current case and 2 b honest i dont even know how i will be able to get the CD-rom drive out. Also if i do get the new case would I need to get brackets for the drives or get some fans for cooling?

This is my current case from the front. To the right of the floppy drive is the memory stick drive. I dont know where i could put it in a new case.

This is the memory stick from the inside of my case. Thats as much of it as i can see.

That is the side of my case (ugly looking thing dont u think)

I guess i just unscrew them and pull my CD drive out?

Now can you see why i want a new case <_<

Any help on where i would put the parts in the new case or how i am ment to take these parts out would be great help. Thanks :)

Yeah, I would just unscrew it all and take it out. I gotta hand it to sony for having the coolest pre built pc cases though! Just take the Floppy and plug it in like normal, but stick the other wire on top of the floppy so it dont get in the way. Other then that everything should work fine, as long as it IS an ATX case.

Isn't that floppy drive and mem stick reader all one unit? If it is just stick it in a 5.25 drive bay in your new tomer.

Ya, but I think hes saying that the memory reader needs another plug on the motherboard...just plug it in...just slide it in where it fits 3.25 or 5.25

from what I know the memory stick is on a PCB but i'm not sure how it is held in the case. I might have a play about with the case tonight and see what i can find out :)

and for cooling will it be fine with what I have in my PC now?

Ok, my dad says he will get me the case meaning it will be here in about a week or earlier. Any advice you can give me for when i get it? :)

if i was you i would try taking the computer apart and try to get all of the parts out of it to see if they were standard shape\size. The power supply might be an odd shape or the screws could be in the wrong place. The cd-rom drives might not have front face plates on them so when you pull the drive out it might not be the drive you can see on the front of the computer. Same with the floppy drive; the floppy and card reader might not be one unit the floppy drive might slide out of the rest. Your motherboard might be a non-standard size and the screw holes might not line up.

It would be good if u took the parts out and made sure they are all standard before buying the new case.

how do I know if it is non standard size or not?

good question  well you can look at the optical drives and the foppy drive at least(when you pull them out see if the front is attached to the drive or if it stays attached to the case). and make sure the wire hooking up the power supply to the motherboard is a long rectangle with 20 wires.

This won't matter if he uses the stock PSU and mobo.

And, not to put too fine a point on it, it's actually a 20 pin connector with 21 wires.
Feeling pedantic this evening am I.

21 wires? i just counted the wires on my old power supply and there are 20. 20 pins on the atx connector also.

and i thought he was oing to be using the power supply that came with his new case (im assuming he got one with the new case).

I have ordered this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=55549) one. It does come with a PSU so i am going to use the one in my current case :)

(when you pull them out see if the front is attached to the drive or if it stays attached to the case).
What happens if the front stays attached? (BTW i havnt tried to take it out)

It's where the front is part of the old case that you need to worry, because then you haven't got a front panel when you put it in your new case.

I'm sure that the CD drives are ok but the Floppy Drive has a cover over it. I will open my computer and try and see what what is up :(

If they dont have pannels will I still be able to use them? I will be able to get some new ones cheap but until then would it be ok to use them without front pannels?

If your drives turn out not to have covers you might be able to mod the blanking plates that will come with your new case to suit.
Could look kinda cool, actually.

so it would still work without the cover? The drive would be hidden behind the door anyway and I am kinda creative. It might look good with a home-made cover :)

Thanks Clocker :D

Oh sure, it will still work...the covers are only eye candy not functional pieces.
Prolly good as dust excluders though, so you'll want to do something to keep cat hair and dust bunnies from getting into the tray gearing and gumming up the works....

Edit:
An easy and effective way to do this is...

1) If you're lucky, your new case's blanking plates will have tabs on the sides which basically " snap" the plate into place.
Cut these off.

2).Using double-sided tape ( preferably the ultra sticky foam type), stick this plate onto the tray cover of your drive. With any luck, there will be enough wobble of the plate that you can push on the corner and activate the open/close button of the drive.
If not, you may have to build up the button a little to get it to work.

3). If you are really ambitious, it's pretty easy to bypass the stock open/close button altogether and just add a remote switch anywhere that is convenient.

Look here for a guide... (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=49981)

sweet! thanks :D

would the case door that im getting with it keep some dust out?

(this case (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=55549))

I'm sure it will and frankly, dust isn't really that big of an issue.
The gearing for your trays is plastic and runs with no oil/grease, so it would have to be pretty clogged up before it failed.

It is computer haiku.

The meaning is fluid, yet universal.

Perhaps it means nothing, perhaps it contains valuable secrets.

Maybe I was just bored and inserted gibberish.

What do you think it means?

Will their be any problems like my motherboard fitting in the case? I heard that only certain boards go with certain cases

also will the case come with screws?

Yes, it should

prety much all cases and motherboards made these days are ATX form factor. that means basically that they HAVE TO fit together.

soon they are going to start making BTX which will be a new form factor, all computer cases will be made backwards and stuff its pretty neat theyre doing this so they can redesign the motehrboard for optimal cooling of the proccessor and other hot parts.

and yes the case will come with screws.

and @ clockers sig, i think that is one of those noobie question things from dray_02's thread.
