Actually...I just have onboard audio from my Asus A7N8X..which is supposed to be like 6.1 or something but isnt lol...can the normal one hold a sub?

These (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2,CONTENTID=5047) are 70 watts but there 80bux...and I dont think I could use 5 satalites..I have no place for them at all really lol.

These are 33watts..could i even feel that? (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2,CONTENTID=7155)

Yep, I've got Logitech Z-560s (out of your price range I think, not sure) and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Great sound quality, volume and bass.

i think those are the ones i have. do they have teh two front, two back, center and subwoofer? mine are like that and the volume is on the center speaker but the subwoofer also has its own bass control. Mine had Three wires to plug them in but i used a splitter which i made myself to split the one output on my soundcard to all of the speakers. but i plan on buying a 5.1 or 6.1 channel soundcard in the future. I think the speakers cost me like 170 canadian.

the 80watt ones look good, but the 33watt ones seem a little too quiet. depends if u like loud music though.

here are mine, the z-640's. (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2,CONTENTID=5047)

btw, i think i figured out how your 6.1 audio works. you hook the second wire to your line-in jack adn the third to your mic jack. Then it either autosenses that there are speakers hooked up or you might have to go into the bios to change some settings. It should all be in your manual. If you need to use the line-in or mic jack for something there is a bracket you can buy which hooks up to a header on your motherboard and that will enable the 6.1 audio while still being able to use the mic and line-in jacks, where you buy it from i have no clue.

Your mobo supports 6.1. That means 6 sattelites and 1 subwoofer.

You can get 7.1s and set upmix if you want to splash out. My Inspire T7700 7.1s are great.

My PC is on a table with a cupboard above it. The two front speakers are in the cupboard. The monitor and tower are monitor on the left tower on the right, Sub in the middle with the centre speaker on top. The side speakers go one on the left of my monitor, one on the mantle-piece above the fireplace on the right of my tower. The two rear speakers are placed on the TV behind me.

I can hear the back ones easy, software that came with my Audigy 2 ZS allows me to change the amount of sound coming from front and back respectively, and crap like that. The PC is going to get a dedicated room soon (:P), so I'll be able to fine tune.

my soundcard only has 2channel output so i am using a splitter to get teh sound to all of the speakers. I cant use software to change the volume because all of my speakers willl change at once. all that will change once my room in teh basement is finished :)

it takes up half of my basement, and me and my dad are building speakers into the wall. Were taking woofers and putting them around the bottoms of the wall and tweeters up higher and all of the speakers will hook up at a few jacks on the wall where i will hook up a stereo which will finally hook up to my computer. but i gotta get a new soundcard and a better stereo... its gonna be sweet, were sound proofing it and so far all we have done is the veiling and you cant hear anthing upstairs :)

my old speakers will go to my sister.

Try this set (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000063ILA/102-7348626-8359322?v=glance) .I had a set of these and they work awesome.I know they say they are only 40 watts but trust me they sound more like 100 watts easy. The sub sound incredible and the satellites work awesome too.The only reason I got rid of mine is because I planned on getting a better set but have yet to come up with the cash.

what about these. (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=36-150-008&depa=0) I listed them before...70watts. Would they be any good you think?

I kinda like these Z540s (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/B000063ILA/all/ref=dp_pb_a/102-8201898-1640969)

My advice is to try your best to get 5.1s. 5.1s are the standard for movies and surround sound these days.

03-07-2004, 03:04 PM
What about the Z540s there 4.1...they got good reviews too look nice.

I dont want to spend to much...cuz I live with my parents of course and they wont let me turn it up loud enough to use all the speakers haha...i usually use headphones.

Dawg,

I have tried a number of different speaker setups, for a long time that was Sprocket's main function.

Although computer speakers have come a long way, my final ( and best, IMO) solution was to run the signal from my PC to a regular stereo amp and use standard home stereo speakers.

Surround sound is nice, but the wiring is a nightmare.
Just regular speakers work well and have far more bass than typical PC subs.

I got my whole setup at a garage sale for $50.
Old stereo rigs are abundant and cheap.

My friend has his soundblaster running to a $500 reciever, 2 $800 tower speakers, 2 $400 bose speakers, and a $150 sony 12' sub. Hes 15...too rich haha. But I dont have recievers and stuff...

That's a bit of overkill, but nice if you can afford it, I suppose.
My neighbors would have heart attacks if I cranked up a system like that.

So many folks are switching to "home entertainment" systems that I've seen lots of nice stereo rigs just laying around gathering dust.
Seek and ye shall find....

Is it 5.1 or 6.1?

Just to give you an example, my mobo (which has 5.1....C-Media 8738MX 6-channel audio + SPDIF out.), comes with an SPDIF Bracket, from which I can connect digital audio output.

Did your board include something extra such as mine?

The satellites will plug into the back of your sub, your sub plugs into one of them sockets.

The other 2 are probably microphone and spdif out or something.

You should have gone for the Deluxe board, you get another 2 connectors (+SPDIF) and a Dolby sound processor. :P

But you can configure one or both of the line in and microphone sockets as outputs though.

just my opionin... but 5.1 speakers are kinda worthless.. idk, but anything more then a 2.1 system is overkill for a computer, even if your watching dvds on it. 2.1 is perfectly fine. but if your going 5.1 those logitech ones you posted look nice. id go with the 2.1 cyber acoustics system you posted earlier tho, my dad has them and there fricken loud, and the bass is really good to. they work great.

Incredible deal, 188watt sub.....bearing in mind that my 30 watt sub used to put out so much at 1/4 to 1/2 volume that my door rattled and the windows rattled.....mind you that was a killer sub.

The sub port on the amp died and now it sits there, a chained giant :(, its like having a small 2001 space oddessy monolith in my room.

go for it
