hi ppl, I was wondering if my computer can handle the new photoshop. Here are my system specs:
-128 mb ram
-intel pentium 3
-20 gig hd
I am not really gonna go extreme in photoshop cs, but my comp doesnt meet the system requirements for ram and some other things. my processor makes it tho. Should i bother dling it?
thx
keep the memory usage down to a minimum and you should be fine. ;)

I'd say that the problem is mainly the seat-keyboard interface. :D
Never had a problem with Me on any system I've had it on.

With those system specs you'd be better off getting Photoshop 6.
There isn't a huge difference (feature wise) between 6 , 7 and 8 anyway, so you won't be missing out on much.
You're better off going with GIMP (http://www.gimp.org), it's a powerful Photoshop replacement that has virtually no system requirements.

I've found Gimp for windows to be rather unstable.
Every time I tried to use plugins... *CRASH!!*
Gimp is great in a Linux environment, but Photoshop is the business for advanced image editing on Windows platforms, IMHO. :)

Warnings
The program(s) might crash unexpectedly or behave otherwise strangely. (But of course, so do many commercial programs on Windows.)
So I guess that mean your windows o.s. and the programs that run on it *CRASH!!* not just Gimp. :)
I've heard of people being unable to get the Fu family of plugins to run at all on Windows.

Sure, a lot of apps will fall when you push 'em through Windows. ;)
But I found the Gimp to be particularly troublesome compared to Photoshop.
Thats all I'm sayin' :)
But Photoshop is native to Windows, so you really can't make that argument. ;)
You and anybody else can use ummmmmm............. whatever the hell you want.
I still say mspaint is 10 times better than photoshop
But then again, I really do not give a shit. :)

Yup - That's pretty much what I've been saying all along. :)

Hell, I'd love to see someone get Photoshop running in a Linux environment half as well as Gimp runs in Windows... ;)
@ shn - M$ Paint better than PSD? :o
Only if you wanna have a race to see which prog can startup faster.

Yeah, that'd probably work, but in this case I consider VMWare to be cheating. :)
I'm talking about a port of Photoshop made specifically to run on Linux.
Just like the Gimp was ported to Windows.
Sure, I know it'll probably never happen...

Just be lucky the Linux community decided to port such a great program like gimp to run on Winbloze.
Last I checked adobe was commercial and only cared about making money.
You want to port something?
Your so good at photoshop, then port yourself a better looking sig. :)

ooOOOoo... tetchy!
Relax.. I was just blue skying - No need to go off the deep end. :P
Hell... If I was proficient in Linux what would I need Photoshop for anyway?
I'd be quite happy using the Gimp in its native, stable environment.
As for my sig... I just might do that. Stay tuned. ;)
Edit: Done! :P
I feel sooo pretteh now.
