Do you go out of your way to read certain threads, because they have either been started by certain people, or the last post has beeen made by a certain person.
I know I do. I scan down the page and if I see certain names I have a look. After that I scan again and see if anything interests me.

i usually read unread threads when i wake up, and then only post in threads which i feel are worthy of my stamp of approval, one of the reasons i posted in this was cos i saw it was jp who started it.

If a fool wants to play you, then they can do it themself. No need to get me to do it for them.
I must admit I do look for certain names and threads first before browsing over everything else

Thread titles are the first thing I look at, though I do keep an eye out for specific posters...contrary to popular belief if a thread doesn't interest me I rarely post in them.

Which means that you do sometimes post in threads that are of no interest to you.

Tends to be a mix of topic and posters.
A topic can be interesting in its own right but if all the contributions are gibberish I tend to move on to something that engages at least a couple of my grey cells (ok both of my grey cells <_< ).

I have a rather characteristic routine:
1) Look for threads about me
2) Start a thread about myself asking why there are no threads praising me.
3) Post a thread about "leaving"
4) Go to another forum and request that KLF die.
5) Return to forum under an alias
6) Look for threads I might have started and forgotten about because I was too deep in the apple.

I look for what the topic is about first.
Then I look at the topic starter.
For instance if the the topic is
"New developments in science" then that's a thumbs up
but then let's say it was started by Witcheese, RapFan, samsamsamsam, etc. then I wouldn't bother reading it.
Now I know that any thread started by those like RapFan will be read by those in the same circle. It's all about what you are looking for in the forum.
There's something for everyone here!!!

I think that Rapfans contribution to the Forum has improved by leaps and bounds in the last few weeks. If you compare his posts of today to the posts of a couple of months ago then he should be congratulated. His attitude and grammar has changed for the better. OK you will get the odd bad post. I think the younger members should be encouraged and not ignored. They are the future. :)

I know danb. I know ;)
That's part of the reason I don't frequent some of those threads. I wouldn't hang-out with 13 year olds in real life so I'm not going knowingly have meaningless verbal banter with one.
Imagine a bunch of kids jumping up and down in one of those trampoline play rooms. Now stick a bunch of 30 year olds in there with them.
It's good to play with your kids sometimes......but not actually act like them ALL THE TIME.

I said this before and I'll say it again.
The Lounge did not used to be that way.
I have never heard of a forum giving up a world to spammers.
Then again this happened with a change in admin, not to say all the changes have been bad. I like SoftwareWorld.
You make your point with the usual clarity, Busyman. ;)
I don't mind interacting with the youngsters; I suppose that comes from my years in coaching.
I'd be willing to bet BigBoab feels that way from his years teaching.
I, too, have a problem with most spam-though there is a particularly high grade of spam which, when practiced with the requisite and attendent artistry, is great fun.
I think the older members know what I mean.
While I do look for certain names (a pretty long list, actually), I try to give lots of things at least a peek.
I am prone to search the archives also; I can easily get sidetracked there. ;)
:)
