 This is some pretty funny stuff... apparently someone took his grandmother hostage and started shooting at the police -- next door to me.

My building wasn't evacuated, but I've had SWAT officers in flak jackets with assault rifles recommending that I leave.

That's very strange they didn't make you leave bullets easily penetrate walls and he could have blown the place up with the natural gas or started a fire.

Supposedly he's armed with a Type-56 SKS rifle and a shotgun. :ninja:

Well... it's all over... my power got killed too which destoyed my surge protector (), so I haven't been able to post until now.

After firing about a hundred rounds at SWAT, he threw his guns out the window, then SWAT rushed the apartment and Tasered him.

Gotta say it was a pretty unique experience as I saw the whole thing go down. :D

You've narrowed me down to two apartment complexes and my dormitory.

It's not actually that bad, besides for the occasion mugging (which is why I carry now). I live in one of the few portions of the BX which actually has grass.

That still seems weird. If you walk around here in Australia with a gun people would think you were a paranoid loony.

If yer seen with a gun in UK, all hell breaks loose yer surrounded by swat team
and arrested then locked up <_<

Unfortulately, in inner NYC, crime is worse than in Australia or the UK. Therefore, the necessity of being armed (be it Mace, a taser, or a firearm) is greater.
