Ok heres the deal I was thinking about getting a 9800 xt card for the pc Im saving for. A friend said that he can ReBoot or do something to the 9800 Pro 256 card that will open it up to be a xt card...

Can this be done??? That would save me about 200.00 usd... ;)

:lol: seriously... your friend's whacked.

You can always overclock it though this would help increse speed, doubt rebooting will change your hardware

you could overclock it to the speed of a 9800XT through software, or there might be a firmware crack that will actually turn teh card into a 9800XT. all programs will think it is an XT and it will have the same performance as an XT, although im not too sure where to get it.

edit: fixed something which didnt quite come out right, keikans post right below me.

its not about if it's an xt or pro its about what speed it is.

He said he has a disk that when run It will open up something on the card. I was reading on some reviews on newegg about that card that said it could be flashed to a xt...

your friend probably talknig about the disc with teh flash program to flash it to an XT.

and keikan, if he flashes it to an XT it will have the same performance\speed as an XT.
