i just got fifa 2004 but have no idea what the controls are
where can i get hold of game manuals?

Usually if deviance, razor, or immersion etc copied it for distribution, the manual will be included on the cd for u in pdf format. Other then that, jsut go into game controls and check the buttons there :P

i just tried a google search, first result gave this:

ESC - Pause Menu

2 = BROADCAST
3 = END TO END
6 = ACTION
8 = SIDELINE
9 = RADAR On/Off

Attacking Possession:
Arrow Keys - Player Movement
Shift + Arrow Keys - Freestyle/Free kick Ball Spin/Jostle/Receiver Run
A - Lob pass/Chip Shot
S - Pass
D - Shoot
W - Through Ball
Q - Trigger Player Run
E - Sprint (HOLD)
Z - Remote Receiver Control/Toggle between Receivers

Defending:
Arrow Keys - Player Movement
A - Slide Tackle
S - Switch Player
D - Conservative Tackle
W - Keeper Charge
E - Sprint (HOLD)
C - Call Second Defender
