i just got broadband 2 weeks ago. does anyone know how i can disconnect my pc from the internet please ??

Unplug the cable from your P.C (e.g. if you have a modem just pull the cable that goes from your modem to your P.C).

Or use
Control Panel -> Network Connections -> right-click your network card -> Disable

get a firewall
Using the "block internet traffic" function won't close the connection itself , it'll just shut off incoming/outgoing traffic.
Just right click the modem icon in you sys tray and click disconnect

I think that it just works for 56k (Dial up) or ADSL that uses DUN (dial up networking) to connect and not an always on connection
