View Full Version : How Do You Remove A Slot P3 Heatsync?

How do you remove the heatsync asembly from a slot pentium 3 prcoessor?

the processor looks like this:

So far ive been able to get the part with teh fan off but ther is still a heatsync there which i cant get off.

anyone know how?

You need to slide the metal plate to unhook the 4 pins.

mine doesnt look like that, and it doesnt slide either...atleast ii cant seem to get it to slide...its got fours pins going straight down to the other side but they cant be squeezed or anything so im not sure how to remove it.

There must be a plastic cover over the metal plate or something.

The pins go though the board and the plate is on the other side.

i only see plastic, how much force should be appplied? are there any tips like say, pushing it down or pulling up then sliding etc. or do u know which way to slide it?i dont want to break it.

btw, i think it has the stock heatsync on it, it says intel and its got one tiny fan in the middle.
