im sorry i couldnt find a place to post this now general probs is only reply so im sorry if its the wrong place
im redoing my web page AGAIN  but im really stuck and to be truthfull starting to get a little annoyed to put it nicley i cannot link a pic and a different background in the table on my site wots up please try help
here it is theres only 1 page so far coz ive just started it :D
My Webpage (http://members.lycos.co.uk/brockster1/)
ANY help would be great as long as it to do with this
Well, at first glance, Iwould say: Try to put in the FULL path to that pic.
I.e, include the "http://" bit.
The background points to something in your "my documents" folder. I can't see the full path though, but check it anyway.
Also, consider running the marquee text to the left. :)
Just my first impressions as I am pretty n00b to this myself.

Ron's Right.
Your linking to an image on your hard drive, not on the internet, thus the image does not appear.

Put this in your code:
Change page.htm to the name of the page you want to link to.

You should probably go around some forums and try to find some hosting... anyway, 5 ad-free MB of space on a reliable server is better than 50 MB on Tripod anyday... otherwise, good luck making your site :) I'm making one myself now for a school project, and have a few problems too... but oh well.

Brockster, doesn't your ISP give you webspace?
Just upload it to your webspace if you have it. That's what I've done with my girlfriend's site - no ads! (apart from the one I chose to put at the bottom)
Using webspace from your ISP is the best way to go.

You've got the linking bit right, but you need to upload all your pages in the frameset too:
new_page_2.htm
my_hobbies_featured_on_this_page.htm
this_page_is_dedicated_to_my_top.htm
new_page_5.htm
Once you've uploaded them, it should work :)

You'll want an "index.htm" file. All I get is your root directory, which is all bad.
Edited to add: If Lycos gives you Frontpage access, it might be easier for you.

There are very few people here to help with your problems Brockster, I would've helped out with the above but I wasn't here, you might get quicker replies if you try a web dev forum. www.dotdragnet.com/forums is quite good. I'm not at all suggesting you abondon this forum, but for quick replies to questions like that, try that forum :)

I prefer writing webpages in flash, and not only that, I actually find it easier!! There are no problems with hyperlinks in flash, hell, it is possible to write a whole page in just one applet. There are also some good forums here (http://www.macromedia.com/support/forums) and here (http://www.actionscript.org). I suggest you try it out. There is also a flash 5 bible in StylinProfilin's sig.
(note, this is a full macromedia studio with freehand, dreamweaver, fireworks and flash.)
