I'm thinking of buying a dvd burner and I would like to know if you can make an exact copy of a dvd with menus, special features, subtitles etc... and if you can how long would it take from start to finish if I have a dvd rom and a dvd burner. Basically can I copy a DVD "on the fly" like an audio cd or is it more complex.

Thanks in advance for any replies

there is a program called DVDXCOPY which will do this for you

details are in the link

it normally takes around 1hour to copy disc to disc with this program and does include a menus function.

you may be able to download this software from kazaa or BT but you can also buy it from the link i posted above.

a whole hour? what kinda dvd burner do u have?
use dvd decryptor to rip the the dvd, u'll probs find ya gonna need to compress the thing to fit on a dvdr 5
but tis pretty easy

apps i use

dvd decryptor - ripping
dvd shrink - to compress and cut bits out
nero - to burn to disc

u may wanna thow in a couple more if ya wanna convert to avi or dix,
this kinda conversion occurs after u have used dvdshrink

xcopy is a big arsed slow to load, heavy ram program.

dvdshrink with nero 6 combined, is every bit as good, doesnt hog ram, and i can do a whole dvd to dvdr in 45 minutes flat

both programs are good and produce the same output
