View Full Version : Windows Xp Pro File Problem

I did a fresh install of xp pro on another comp i have and it finshed installation but i didnt get to create user names or nething, and i restarted and it says that windows\system32\config\system that the file is missing or corrupted and i wont to know how i can fix it? i ran xp and did repair and copy the file but it didnt help, so what can i do now?

that copy of xp pro that you used to install, where did you get it from, i mean did you d/l from the net. i need a copy of an os that i can d/l from the net to install on a freshly formatted h/d

Delete the partition...reformat it...install AGAIN...I guess haha

i got it from suprnova i believe, i recommend you use a slow cd-rom or you will have a prob copying some of the files. i installed and i am having a prob with startin up

when you say you got it from suprnova, do you know which one EXACTLY you d/l, because i had a look and didnt know which one will do a fresh install, even if its not xp, maybe another os, because i have xp pro upgrade.

The above file is part of your registery, specifically the software info. It seems tp be corrupted though. Reinstall win xp or use the long way :
Long way:
go to your new comp.
copy (export) all your registery.
put it on cd and copy it to your HD.
excute it.
run a registery cleaner. The registery will have many invalide items and keys, so a good registery cleaner will be needed. your comp. will be slower if you do it this way.
if your comp does not even start, then use MsDos to start it and use commands to do the above.

if have tryed to reinstall and now it wont copy some of the files but last time i installed it did fine
