connect the cassette recorder to the "line in" jack of your pc, using a stereo cable (RCA plugs) and an adapter that lets you plug the cable into the line-in jack (headphone style plug). both are easily available at Radio Shack or most other places that sell audio/video cables.

in Volume Control in Windows, select "line in" as the recording source. then use a program that records WAV files to record it. i prefer GoldWave, but there are plenty of other programs that can do it. from there, you can burn to CD, convert to MP3, or whatever you please.

Try switching the different audio sources or turning the volume of the tape player up.

first of all i suggest you put the tape through some sort of pre amp , eg like a disco mixer or something like that so you can boost the sound up

where you pluged the tape player in i assume its the aux input

go to you sound control

the one with all the volume sliders ect and go to the recording section and select aux as the input , its usualy the mic that is selected
