hi ppl, I have recently download knoppix and use it as a boot disc for places where I dont have linux installed. I need some help here though. I have an efficient networks speedStream 5200 dsl modem with a usb connection to my computer. How can I set this up in knoppix? I tried the dsl setup utility but it says "no network card detected" and How do i get my hp deskjet 648c configured? I tried the printer config but don't know how to get it running (how do I load drivers from my hd because This is a boot cd) thx ppl

The windows drivers won't work in linux.

You will have to mount the hd, then load them with /sbin/modprobe (they are modules, right?)

first i need to find the drivers for the speedstream 5200 usb modem from efficcient networkds, then load the drivers via a mount (knoppix automatically mounts your windows hdd so you can browse and modify files, B)
btw, I knew she was joking :D
@bulio --The fact that your trying to use a Live CD at school or at work is even worse.
You can't save anything with a live cd unless you have a usb key or some other portable storage device which I doubt any admin would allow on their network.
Try Driverguide (http://driverguide.com/) for your Linux drivers you want or go to the manufacture's website.
@ LSA --yeah you think their cools. Let me guess..................you never really installed Linux before have you? You been using a Live cd all this time I'll bet. :lol: :-"
And IMO, Windows can do a lot more than what most people would actually use a Live cd for anyway............besides firewalling. :) [/B]
Someone here has the same problem

Google Groups Search: speedstream 5200 linux (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=speedStream+5200+linux&btnG=Google+Search)
You can probably find some stuff in there.
Have you found the drivers yet?

@shn - Ok ok ok...I confess....:lol:
