I'm downloading AOL 9, according to them it's a lot faster, which means instead of getting disconnected every 5 minutes, I can now get disconnected every 3 minutes! :01:

Just a 4 hour d/l on my 56k

If you are getting disconnected every three minutes, look on the bright side. :) It also means you have to be reconnected pro rata. :)

Been beta testing it for a couple of months and the final version is crap, lots of bugs and the most annoying thing is the page of info, you can no longer stack and rack minimized pages <_<

You should have gone on the AOL chat and you would have seen all the bad reports.
2 good points are video confrence on IM's and auto compact on emails :)

Other than that it sucks and I'm sticking with 8 :)

I was on AOL back in the day.

The one thing I really enjoyed about it was the realtime quizzes on chat.

Does anybody know if there's anything like that anywhere else? MSN used to have shitty quizzes but they're now gone (fortunately).

Some IRC channels have quizbots which ask questions in real time (generally anagrams and missing words...)

Cheers 4th Gen.

They'd be along the smae lines as the aforementioned shitty msn jobs.

What was good about the aol quizzes was members actually created the quizzes themselves. So you had all sorts of catagories and a truly competative atmosphere.

Damn, I miss 'em.

Nope. And anyone sels who says otherwise I would like to see screenshots or proof please.

Maybe if M$ takes over you will be able to.

The closet I ever got was a Unix/Slip connection which is half the speed of dial up (ppp)................you get like 36k instead of 56.
