View Full Version : Who Closed The Thread?

"I don't know who closed the thread, it wasn't me, and just between you and me, I wouldn't have."

Has anyone seen this game before?

If you close a thread, post your name and why it was closed.

If you are going to be a mod and make decisions, be "man" enough to identify yourself.

Then we don't have to have 12 rounds of other Mods baffled as to who closed it and why? This little charade smells a bit off to me.

In addition, it is courtesy to PM the post starter of why it was closed, although this is not necessary if you explain why in the final post.

In the Billy Dean 2 thread, Jetje stated that HE was going to close it and WHY. I have absolutely no problem with this at all. If I have a problem, I can PM about it(which I do not).

If he hadn't done this and a lock had mysteriously appeared, I would be frustrated because I wouldn't why it was closed or who to talk to about it. People want to talk to the person responsible, not 6 other Mods who will pat you on the head and tell you that they didn't do it and they wouldn't have closed it. That does not appease people.

In fact, it usually causes them to post another thread, asking why a thread was closed, instead of having a polite conversation with the mod who closed it.

As with any relationship, communication is the key.

I guess my question is:

Shouldn't this be policy?

Maybe it should be in "About this board".

Now you have made that clear I agree with you. I think its only common courtesy :)

No, not that you wally

That the closer of a topic should really say why. Then again in some cases its blatantly obvious but i still feel its only fair really.

well Hobbes, i have an idea how things happened and who closed it. I thought i explained that allready... the threat was closed for pretty obvious reasons just not mentioned when done that way. Please leave it alone, i'm getting pretty tired of keeping explaining things about all this, to bad you just came in too late to participate the 2nd thread you started but i hope you do understand thing better now.
If there's still aproblem please pm one of the admins ;)

For the majority of us, it is.

From the "Mod Guidelines":

Closing Topics
Closing threads: If a whole topic is clearly outside the rules then it can be locked straight away, or in severe cases moved to Area 5p4m. Your closing post in the thread should clearly state why it was locked.

If a thread is descnding into a flamewar then generally a post saying "no more flaming please, otherwise I'll have to lock this thread" will do the trick; otherwise, padlock time and PMs to offenders.

For the record, I still don't know who closed it.

It was probably the wind that blew it shut and locked it, you get a lot of hot wind in the Lounge. ;)
