Alienware (http://www.alienware.com) are now selling an Athlon 64 FX-53 system, but I haven't heard a lot about a proper release yet. Also, looking around the Alienware site says nothing about a delayed shipping date for said PC.

Its on the AMD site, pretty silent release if you ask me. Am I just not up to date?

Not exactly a giant full blown release though was it?

they did a silent release for a reason: so that they can kill the stocks of 51s that they still have left.

itll never happen tho. they shouldve been smarter, like intel when they released 478, and advertized it a bit more (altho intel was also awfully silent about 478 <_<

get used to it. the only heavily advertized pin upping is prescott, and those no longer use pins on the chip . but prescott seems like a disappointment <_< ... Intel waited to kill many of their p4EEs before prescott, but they are still making p4ees cuz they know that many ppl could use it...

correct me if im wrong...

A useful comparison of the top AMD and Intel processors.

One thing we shouldn't overlook though, these are 64 bit processors running in 32 bit mode. What will their performance be like when the full power of their 64 bit architecture is unleashed? I suspect even the P4EE's will struggle.

Linux 64 bit running UT2004 64 bit saw 33% improvements, and thats on Linux, which the game was not primarily made for. Just think about 64 bit optimised drivers and the whole package...

Sorry, but for 90% of new chips (upgrading from old ones) don't you need a new motherboard??

half true. amd chips have always used the same pin count and placement, and the motherboard companies always add support for more chips to the bios, but i guess it would be limited by the chipset youve got. for example you cant run a 2500+ on my motherboard, because mine only runs at a fsb of 266. but if it were possible there probably would have been a release for the bios including all new processors.

i guess 90% does sound right...

someones an asshole <_<

apparently you never went to alienware... the pcs that they make are around 3g... and NEVER at 5g or above when they make them...

and never at 20g hen customized... not our fault that you are an impoverished fool who happened to find an internet connection

oh yea btw: their PCs are NEVER crap: youre talkin about a company who holds universal recognition for their gaming rigs... look at the facts first my friend... their rigs carry unbelievably reliable warranties.
they are very overclocker friendly
they carry very nice cooling systems
their rigs are VERY reliable. reliable ram (almost always corsair)
quiet HDDs (usually seagate)
overclocker friendly CPUs (made in malaysa[sp?])
motherboards are ready for the future
for gods sake even the volt mods are cooled!!!

i think that quality like that deserves a high price tag dont you think?

Its true in the way that Alienware is over expensive. For example I could easily find a very similar system (yes, premade) for the same price bundled with a monitor.
Whats better: Flashy Hard Drive and Power Lights {Basically what that little Alien's head on Alienware is}
A monitor
