for the Athlon 2500+ what should it be? i read it should be about 4800rpm but mine is runs at 3300rpm, my temps look fine (CPU:48c MB:31c idle), should i be worried?

Should be in about that area. 4500-5000. This Athlon 2800+ stock rpm is 5000.

Depends on the cooler. Not all stock coolers are the same. There are thin fans that spin at 4800 but some thicker ones are slower.

Another thing to check is if you have any speed control in th BIOS settings that could be disabled.

that's good to know, sort of - i'm pretty sure i don't have any fan speed controlling things, could it be the sensor is broken?

I doubt any sensor would be fully accurate anyway.

Anyway, as you said your temps aren't high, so if its not broke why fix it?
