I WILL pay for the information that actually gets my Windows Media Player to work. I've spend too much time looking through Microsofts information, removed a bunch of programs, and re-installed them, and I still can't get the program to work. Yes, I have other programs that will play my video and audio files, but I want WMP to work. For one simple reason, I believe that certain codecs are not starting to work cause WMP won't start. That means that not all of my vidoes or audio files will play on my main computer.
I'm getting a window that says "An internal application error has occured."

I'm running another computer that has WMP working so certain files that won't play on my main computer will play on my laptop, for example.

I will send a check for $20.00 to the person who gives me the answer that actually works.

I running Windows 2000 on my main computer and of course I have a lot of other important programs installed. I'm running DSL and am networked to the laptop.

For one thing, keep your money. I am sure that as time goes by on that system, WMP will not be the only problem/headache you ever deal with software-wise.

Are you certain that you have all your file types associated with WMP? Or that the software recognizes your sound device? Or as someone else mentioned, you having all the proper codecs?

At any rate, what sort of file is it that you are trying to open?

In the meantime, for all your codec needs (older ones as well) :
