Hey guys, just wondered what everyone uses to block those fucking pop ups. I have norton internet security, but havent installed it. Does that work, or work well? Does it take up alot of RAM?

I currently just us this tiny killad app,

Kill Ad (http://www.iomagic.org/fsc/killad.htm)

I just put a shortcut to the exe in my quick launch bar, click when im surfing, and it blocks any other window from opening... gotta double click it when u want to open another browser, etc, so thats a bit of a pain, but it works. ( i guess this is not the case anymore, as it seems the new version doesnt require that.)

Any other suggestions? Something not so efficient, but will kill all net based pop ups?

I've never liked Norton Internet Securities popup blocker(i love the rest of the proggie htough) cause to block popups, it rips the code that initiates a popup out of the page and a lot of the time it takes out too much and messes the page up...

I like EMS FreeSurfer (http://www.emsproject.com/FS), it's totally free and quite customizable for a free program
Another good one is Popup Stopper (http://www.popupstopper.com), they have 2 or 3 versions and only one is free (or better said only one is sposed to be free)

I can recommend Webwasher .
It's around in different versions (freeware is called -classic).

ZoneAlarmPro also can filter out annoying content :Tab privacy >ad blocking >custom

I browse with Opera7.02 so I don't have popups. But before when I used IE6 Meaya Popup Ad Filter was the best. :)

Forgot to mention this : javascript is responsible for most popups and
by disabling it in your browser-securitydialog you can still surf
most of the www normally. ;)

I've tried a few out in the last months, but THIS (http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html) is the best one imo.

Zone Alarm stops a lot of popups but if things get to hectic i use PopupStopper, it wont even let you open a new IE page until you press the Control key, it's very efficient.
