Recorded Video Won't Play

I downloaded some Friends avi. files, and burned them on my burner. When I try to play them on my dvd player, it doesn't play? Other avi. files and video clips play on my player, why is this?

heres why: ur other AVIs were DivXs (the only other file type that DVD players play nowadays other than WAVs and MP3s and WMAs) the avi which ur friend recorded is (a 99% chance) not a DivX. u can check by dloading GSpot (its in the KLite Codec Pack) to check the file and see just what kind of file it really is...
