I got a concert tomorrow evening at the local (tiny) Pub.

Me and some buddys was asked to play some cover tunes,
we got the phonecall last week.
We got the setlist done in about 30 min, me and the Key/Voc dude
talked over msn. Then i had to distribute the songs to all players so
we got some homework to do.

Oh yeah, we live in different towns.

Me and teh drummer got to rehearse yesterday about 3 hours,
mostly jamming through the songs and figuring out some details.
Bass player is joining us today about 4/5pm.
We'll be playing all evening and probably making a new song(s) too.
Teh Keyboard/Vocal dude is joining us tomorrow morning and we'll do some
serious rehearsing.

Soundcheck is probably about 3pm.
I dont know all the details yet about when and what.

Im really excited about this. :afro:

So, put your PartyHat on this Eastern cuz I like to Boogie !!!!
(maybe i got it on tape and if it dont suck too much, i'll be sharing it on teh SS)

We came up with the setlist real quick, trying to keep things simply as we dont have too many hours to
practise together before the gig and considering what kinda ppl we're going to show up, cant play Megadeath and the likes, (this is a Pub we're talking, not an Arena)
here's teh list: (Song-Artist-Key)

Fire - Hendrix - D
He'll Have To Go - Jim Reeves - G
Johnny Guitar - The Shadows - Am Late At Night - The Buzz Brothers - A
My Babe - The Fabulous Thunderbirds - G
Parisienne Walkways - Gary Moore - Am
Roadrunner - Cant remember who made this, its on the new Aerosmith album too.. - E
Summertime Blues - Eddie Cochran - E
Telephone Boogie - Johnny Guitar Watson - E
The House Is Rocking - SRV - C
Riviera Paradise - SRV - Em
The Sky Is Crying - SRV - C
Chitlins con Carne - SRV - Bm (or Hm, depends where you at)

The order of the songs is to be desided later today. Not too many songs but
they suppose to "entertain'" the ppl about an hour, there's another local band
playing too, some C&C&Revival style, if I remember right...
Me, Drummer and Bass player went to rehearse yesterday at 6pm. key-player
joined at 9pm. we had a lttle break and then we was rehearsing until 1:30, my finger are starting to bleed.
Apparently, we know how the songs goes, but we have some difficulties to make 'em "Groove", the Bass & Drums has to be tight. :)
Plus, we've added some different endings, for example, Johnny Guitar ends with this
Bass line that sounds like the theme from Twilight Zone and then we'll hit the
Am7Major, really an out of space experience. lol.

Well, we're going to rehearse today some more, starting at 13:00.
Soundcheck probably around 6pm. Going on stage about 22:00, im not sure of that yet.

My fingertips are hurting but im still exited. :)
Damn blues songs, nuthin' but bendings, and i got these 0.wire strings on a Strato..

I'll might add here how it went later today, if im not extremely drunk. ;)

Well, i got the songs on the HD, some songs missing tho,
they guy who recorded it didnt get all the songs.

I'll be sharing them at SS when it gets going.
If ya want them, PM me at SS later, probably tomorrow as im
enjoying some redwine now and probably go out to the pubs later.

Quality is not really good. Balance is not right, tons of guitar, drums OK, keyboard too quiet, so was vocals,
it was all about where the mic. for the MD was, probably my amp was shooting
straight at it. :1eye:
It's a bootleg, ain't much i can do about it.
And, some songs are missing, Im trying to hunt 'em down if
somebody else got some.
Maybe pics coming later too.. he he, that should be interesting.

Teh Gig:

Overall, it was fun, tons of fun to play out there. :)
(made a mental note I should do that more..)

From the beginning the message was clear, teh house was rockin
and folks got on with it. 120+ sold tickets in a tiny joint like that was
just about sold-out, atleast I had major problems gettin beers, he he...
Some troubles along the way, as expected, bass-player popped teh G-string on
while playing "Fire", guess he got really excited...
I was using borrowed Fender Stratocaster for the bluesy sound, probelm is,
im more use to "beat-teh-shit-out-of-teh-strings" and my regular axe Rootbeer
can take the beating, Strato couldnt. Its a good guitar but i was not gentle enuff and
after 3 or four songs Fender was way out of tune...
I was trying to tune it up between songs but with no success,
the background noice was enuff to distract me.
(...not to mention teh free beer...)
Started using the Rootbeer in some point and then i was a bit more "in tune".
Lotsa funny suprises again, most of the songs was not played as practised,
yoo see, when ppl starts singing a long, one has to take the advance of it and
provoke them some more, lift the roof so to speak. At the "Roadrunner" song,
the roof did lift some. ;)
On the "Late at night" the keyboard-vocal dude gets behind me and starts playing my guitar,
he he, he played pretty well too and ppl loved it.
On a small place like that the atmosphere can get really intimate as the audience is
like 2 meters away, I could make some notes really matter and meaningfull, lol,
i hope i get to see some pics later on.
Usually if the audience is too far away and if its possible I take a walk on the bar while
playing the guitar. Thats a bullet proof way to get just about everyone going crazy.
I mean, you cant ignore it if somebody rattles the guitar like 20cm off from your
face. Works everytime.

Anyway, Im going to hit the pubs now, talks with ya guys on SS laters..

Cheers:
-GS-

(ps. @J'Pol, that Reeves song is missing, i hope i get it later...)
