whats the best touch up, showing off, extra bit that you have put in your web page to make it that bit better?

Give us an example if possible

Inline frames, animated smilies, colouring the scrollbars.... little things like that.

Frames are great in theory but crap in execution.
Animation will make your end user blind.
Coloring scrollbars is just annoying.

Well I am talking about personal sites, not business ones.
If it was a business site, I would not use any of the show-off things.
But I think that for a personal site, you can do just about what you like, as it's mainly for fun. :D

 You have a point, I'm just more used to developing in a business-type environment.

And to answer your question... anything's game... except "encryption" scripts and the <marquee> tag. :D

you also have to consider loading time for whoever is trying to look at your site. Extra stuff like that really slows it down. I took a lot of stuff off of my site when I used a dial up connection to show my site to a friend. It took forever, and I didnt realize that because I have a 1000k cable modem! Not everyone is fortunate enough to connect thru a T1 or a 1000k cable modem.
