I don't know how long it's been like thsi just noticed today but my auto protect was turned off and email scanning was listed as error and I could not turn them on won't work!!

tryed re installing same thing!

any suggestions?? or will I haev to format the bastad (again)

I would suggest a different anti-virus.
Norton has been going downhill.... Symantec's whole 2004 line sucks.


NOD32 (http://www.nod32.com) is excellent.
AVG (http://www.grisoft.com) is also excellent. Even has a free version that&#39;s better than Norton&#39;s latest and greatest... <_<

yeah I read nod32 is great but I have not been able to get a "cough" free version of it

Avast&#33; makes a good AV. I&#39;m using the home version which is freeware.

Norton is very sensitive to registry cleaning, be careful not to delete any Norton/symantec entries you have installed even if your reg cleaner says its safe

other than that I like Symantec products

I have had a major problem with 2004 internet security had to remove and re install to fix it went and locked up that has so far fixed it 2003 no problems

Yes- I experience those same problems on occasions. However needing to out-right un-install then re-install my Norton products is something that I only turn to as an ultimate last resort.

Usually a simple reboot clears up NIS or NAV when it decides to act up and disable itself.
