Howdy Chris.

I recommend using the PJ64 Emulator (Project 64)
It runs all the games i have on it.
You can get every thing you need from the following site.

Hola

PROJECT 64 is the best N64 emulator out there so far, oh and for some great CPS3(no emulator though), NAMCO, N64 and SEGA roms check out this site Westcn Games (http://202.100.72.56/emu/rom.htm). Help, I'm an emulator junkie.

The best gamepad for n64 emulation would be an original one.
Failing that, the logitech cordless wingman rumble gamepad is the one that i use.
It has even a few buttons left over after configuring for n64 games.
Also it feels right as the buttons are in a close resemblence to an original n64 pad.

Use an original N64 gamepad with one of those N64/PS2 to PC USB Converters. They're quite easy to get hold off from a specialist online games' retailer or off eBay. Projext64 seems to be the best emulator at the moment.

I can use my PS2 controller with a USB converter, and it can run game and play games well. The great thing about ps2 controller is the amount of buttons it has and placements of them. But anyway i think any game pad will work, as long as it has atleast the same number of buttons of an n64 controller with the exception.

Yep, Project 64 is truly the best with modern hardware.
Doh Games (http://www.dohgames.com/index.php?page=roms) is a good place for both US and JAP/EUR 64 roms.
I pretty much use my PS2 Controller too. Wish i had an N64 adapter though...
