I bought one of these at Maplins today.
The fecker seems to play anything including AVI, DIVX, DVD,SVCD, MP3 etc.
It playe them on any medium.
They don't have to be authored. So 6 AVI movies on 1 DVD, go to the Menu and select the one you want then play it. So far it has played anything I tried, on any format.
It cost £79.99 and is feckin amazing value.
