Thanks :)

I just wished either ATI or nVidia (or both) changed their model numbers.... X800 (this was on-the-fly since X=10, and that was the next number) and 6800 (next number for nVidia)....

Cmon friggin companies.... give us some creativity! :frusty:

How long will nvidia continue to make products which will work on a AGP8X mainboard?

Will any of the next gen gfx cards work with the current agp motherboards? or will we have to buy a top of the range gcard if we buy a pci express mainboard?

theyre making some new cards for agp i beleive, but probably not very many, and probably not for very long...

i think i heard they were going to come out with agp versions of there cards a few months after the pci express version, sora like how they release some pci versions about 6 months after the agp version...but i dont know if this is true...

Damn, and I guess they're changing the slots on the PCI-Express due to the voltage change and all that

Remember to bolt down your PCI cards hard when this things installed, with a fan that big they could be sucked inside/blown away .

An example of a PCI Express motherboard I saw had 1 16xPCI-E port (graphics), 4 of the small 1x (add-on cards) and then 4 normal PCI.

ATi is developing a PCI to AGP 8x bridge last I heard too.

atividia, cant you buy one of those y-connector things that splits a molex into two conections, then have one going to a hard drive or something, and the other to the vid card, and if you dont even have one free molex then buy two y-connectors...

and whats wrong with heatsyncs on the volt mods?

@atiVidia, I ask that you go back and edit your post to something appropriate for this forum. Surely you didn't think it was ok to post that here.

Think before posting.

well the psu on my sff unit is 250w. its already being guzzled by 2 dvd burners and a 5700u. adding a more intensive power requirement would surely waste my psu (or my hdd from the frequent freezes lol)

well if your willing to $600 to buy a pci express videocard, and $120 for a new motherboard that supports pci express, then im sure you wouldnt mind spending $50 on a new psu...

happy easter guys!

lol unfortunately sff mobos dont come with pci express.

also, the 6800 u comes on AGP lol so it wouldve worked (if i was actually able to upgrade the psu. PSUs on SFFs [on my model] maxed out at 250w.)

Wattage isnt a good indicator of your PSU's output really, just a general idea, but I doubt it will put up with an NV40 considering it is guzzling power from 3 sources (AGP slot, 2 Molex connectors).

A nice stable PSU like an Antec 350 watt truepower should be fine. :)

Also, I have heard that the molex connectors going into this card have to be on their own seperate rail, i.e. not connected to anything else in the chain, although this is only rumour at this stage.

Either way, if you can stump up the projected $600 for this card, you can afford to spend a bit more on a decent PSU. ;)

Just realised you are using SFF......try it anyway, you never know, it may well work if the PSU is stable enough....stranger things have happened.

lol u think that it could work like the other cards? i.e. the 5700u where if the molex isnt plugged the clocks are sliced in half?

They have to be made to fit in mini PCs, and will need to be made to produce less heat and the things needed in a small PC.
