Is It Safe To Overclock My Laptop?

I've got a AMD Athlon 1800 but it's able to run as a AMD Athlon 2100 just by selecting it in BIOS.
The fan speed runs at 45% when it's on 1800 as default and of course changes when the laptop heats up.
The 2100 boots and runs perfect but I'm worried about leaving it running as 2100 do you think it'll be alright?

hmmm , now i wouldnt be overclocking a laptop, but thats just me

i dont think you could cool it enough when its working , idle temp are nothing , its working load temps that kill your pc

You shouldn't really go overclocking a laptop. Heat is usually bad enough on stock speeds, but if you want to take the plunge go for it.

check the temps of it. they might be in the bios somewhere, but download motherbooard monitor 5 by searching for it on google. then post your temps here.

btw, if you dont know your motherboard model when installing motherboard monitor try using aida32, it will give you the info u need.

on an intel id give it a go, but AMD doesnt really have proper heat protection on their cpu's, so id be VERY carefull

What is it with people?

SET A TEMPERATURE CUTOFF POINT IN THE BIOS. NEARLY ANY MOTHERBOARD ALLOWS FOR IT!

it stresses components and usually decreases it's lifespan significantly
and if your not carefull you can blow the component out altogether...
