View Full Version : Linux How To Make Shortcuts?

DWk

Ok, how can I create shortcuts (either in desktop or in the redhat menu) for programs that I have to run through a terminal?

I know you can right-click icons (or executables), and click make link, then move it to the desktop. However, it asks me if I want to run it in a terminal....etc.etc.etc., such as Firefox.

So if there's any way to avoid this, please let me know.

Thanks :)

With all due respect DWK, there is a big difference between a n00b and a complete idiot.

Which one is it gonna be?

Plus I couldnt find the rtfm smiley.

Don't you think I've looked into it already?

I think I've gained enough respect to not be considered either of both in certain matters, specially not an idiot.

I ask here because I can't find it. AFAIK, this section was put up for people to post questions as the such, for experienced people like yourself to help with.

Most I've done in this forum and other forums I've been at, is help people. I don't call people noobs. Ignorance is one thing, stupidity is another.

So please, refrain from such comments :smilie4:

Do I need to spell it out? And where the hell were you when Linux Section was first put here?

You talked all that crap about how having a Linux Section would be a good idea and when it finally came here you were nowhere to be found. Oh, you were on the forum.............just not anywhere near Linux Section.

Had you been here initially like you were supposed to, you might have learned something.

If you want answers then google it bud! Respect is earned and you took the day off................. with NO PAY!

Not posting in a section doesn't mean you aren't around. Oh I've read most of the Linux topics. But why do I have to put my input just for people to know that I'm around.

Either way, I guess I'm a newbie, not lies about that.

Yet it's up to you whether you help or not ;)

 O'Reilly's books own. They're informative.
They don't dick around.
They don't babysit.
The author actually knows something.
The books are huge (read: the DHTML For Beginners book is over 2000 pages :ninja:)
The books are dirt cheap.
I love it. :P

Not true.

I'm not helping anyone that I see won't even attempt to help themeselves. And there are other forums you can go to to get help. Don't expect to get any real problems solved here.
