As some of you might know, WeeMouse, Helen-Marie (a friend of ours) and myself climbed Ben Lomond earlier this week. We travelled to Balmaha then walked to the Rowardennan Youth Hostel from there on Monday, we climbed Ben Lomond on Tuesday and made our way back to Balmaha on Wednesday, eventually getting back to Glasgow just in time for me to go into work and close up the shop (I slept well that night).

WeeMouse had her digital camera with her, so here's a selection of the shots she took:

Been there at Christmas. It's pretty nice if you've got the place to yourself. Was it busy?

Please tell me he was joking. Someone. Please.

N00b - the hostel was about three quarters full, we were sharing dorms with strangers. Wasn't that bad though, they were all pretty friendly.

Scotland's a lovely place :)

Odd, wake there in the Loch toward the shore on the right side, could that be Nessy?

I want to know if the people of Scotland are as fascinated by the possibility of the Loch Ness monster as Americans are or are they part of a national conspiracy to intermittently catch a fuzzy snapshot of her to keep the tourism dollars coming in?

Yes, The Loch Ness Monster is regularly seen in Loch Lomond

With regards to Scottish attitudes towards Nessie... that second one ;)

Yep it's the tourist dollar for me, every time.

Have you eaten at the Buchannan Arms Hotel in Drymen. I have stayed there a couple of times and the food is excellent.

There's also a wee pub in the village which sells a nice pint and some single malts I wouldn't wonder.

Liam-

Please excuse Hobbes's unrelenting foolishness. :P

I must say, though, I have heard you Scots move Nessie from place to place in order that you might optimize the tourist dollars, eh?

Wouldn't it be simpler just to commission a whole fleet of Nessies?

What a beautiful place. :)

Nessy gets around, Liam should know this.

Here is a link to a National Geographic documentary which delineates the migrational behavior of this tremendous animal.

By gosh and golly, Hobbes-

I think you've blown the lid off this one!

Time for the dastardly Scots to be held to account!!!!

We demand reparations!!!!!!!

Liam,

After WeeMouse and Helen-Marie have gone to sleep tonight, will you be posting all those from behind "bum shots" that they don't know about.

http://www.danikkdesign.com/bubbaland/images/ih9.jpg

We can erase them from the board before they awaken tomorrow and they will be none the wiser ;)

Not at this time of year. They'll be coming out pretty soon though

One of my fantasies has always been to step into a field full of midgies and find a primed flamethrower lying around. The little fuckers would burn a green flame because they've got copper based blood

I use to climb while in the army's 10th Mountain Division.
My base was located in upper state N.Y. and it is the only thing
I miss from my army days ;)
