Well the prelim pictures of the NV40 I posted here (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=107271&view=findpost&p=956160) over a week ago were laughed at, but turned out to be real, and the Aquamark scores I posted are looking like they might be the real deal also. So scoff away if you want, and I promise I won't say I told you so ;)

Some more pics and and a possible price point for the GeForce 6800 and GeForce 6800 over here. (http://www.darkcrow.co.kr/Home/home.asp?idx=#3018) Another foreign site I'm afraid, but you get the gist.

$399 Ultra
$299 Non-Ultra

Sounds OK to me, if they translate into British prices at the normal exchange rate, you'll be able to get a 6800 for under £200.

Are the 6800's the top of the line? And are they not gona be good and then switch to 6900? hahaha $400 seems low for the top of the line card...pretty good.

Yeah, the 6800 Ultra will be the best card available when it comes out. Still unconfirmed, but you're probably looking at Q2/Q3 for the native PCI-Express version of the NV40, and then the next high end will be the NV45/NV48 in Q3/Q4. After that mid range/mainstream versions of these cards will come out.

'Course all this might be thrown into chaos if ATi's offering is a real contender - and that's looking more likely than it was a few days ago - see Will ATI Radeon X800 Have 33% More Pipelines Than Anticipated? (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=15248)

Perhaps Nvidia might need to worry again...

@Skillian:

those april fools pics u posted were false in 1 way: the chip itself.

the picture you saw was the 6800 non-u i believe, which is why it only has 1 molex. the 6800u has 2 (others, please check this)

so dont even try to infer that you told us so ;)

The pictures I posted had two molex connectors - and I think it'll be two connectors whether the card is ultra or not.

Two direct molex connectors. Thats bloody nasty

/me thinks we won't be seeing an NV4x's in laptops :P :P :P

Dipfuck? That's a bit h4rsh.

It was a joke, I don't think they'll be powering GFX cards with nuclear power stations for a couple of years yet.

Look, I just want to chat about the new graphics cards. If you want to flame me do it in PM or another topic.

Once again its the inquirer, who generally tend to be right by covering all their bases just in case.

"Its going to be 16 pipelines"

"Its goiing to be only 8 pipelines"

"Its going to be 12 pipelines"

"32 pipelines!!!!!!"

After all, one of them must be right ;).

However on this issue I hope they are correct. I would like to see the cost of graphics cards drop from a consumer perspective.

In terms of 3d mark, I'd be surprised if it showed a big increase.

Lol, yeah that's true - they're more of a rumour mill than a news site.

my guess is that in the near future the cards still wont have enough horse power to use teh full extent of pci express's bandwith, but atleast that bandwith will be there in teh future for the higher horsepower cards. Plus for now atleast the actual card will be the lbottleneck, rather than the socket...
