If i have deleted any porn on my PC, will there be any traces left on the PC, for example something in the registry? I need to get my PC completely clean.

cheers

Format the damn thing... that should solve it!

Well there seems to be a file that records all that you do...and that remains even after formatting. There is a program to clean it though...but it slips my mind at the moment.. I will let you know when the memory returns... :)

Message as requested from the almighty boab:

"Formatting is just like taking the index out of a book. The book is still there and can be read by anyone who knows how"

"Get some free disk clean software that overwrites the data, often called a file shredder"

hehe, well the thing is the police are paying a visit later to have a chat to my mum about something or other, i dont know what exactly since ive been locked away in my room the past few weeks revising for A levels. Anyway she decided to tell them that a fair share of dowloading goes on in our household, the police told her that they dont care about music or film, they only take action once authorites report individuals. However in the case of porn they prosecute. I assume that must be only child porn but nonetheless im not taking any risks. Cheers for the links ppl, ill check em out.

he's been reported for filesharing, (or maybe something that has to do with it, like selling downloaded stuff i.e. (just a wild guess there....he didn't say that!)
Therefor the police comes by and he's afraid that if they search his pc, they (and probably also his mother) finds all the pr0n. So that can help him in any deeper shite as he's already in, so to prevent that he rather dishes that ;) That is at least how i read it

Well if everything pr0n on his computer is legal , what is he worrying about then?

Should this forum really be helping people to do bad unlawful things? (Such as people providing links to software which deletes files).

if hes still living with his mum we can assume hes still young so why would he download child pr0n ? you lot jump to your conclusions too quick

if police found porn on the comp and told his mother i know she would end up getting out a astick or something and beating him black and blue

Well why not, here at the firm i work we give away our older pc's, still good enough for some projects. But we want give away our data on it so to be sure there isn't anything to be recovered, we use software and electro magnets to erase all. It seems that these tools help out for that purpose, hen why not use them. Also being on a filesharing forum, it could be that some people get caught for sharing well these tools can help you to prevent a big fine... You probably would be glad if you have used it before the pc is confiscated :smilie4:

No but you go onto one porno site these days and about 20 po up, u close then but if one of the pop ups was kiddie porn its saved as a tempary file, also you can't tell sometimes that thwe stuff you get frm Kazaa is over 18, you hope to god it is, but there are some sick bastards who decided to share there under 18 ictures just re-named

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the tools themselves. what I'm saying is that some members are trying to help him cover up his wrongdoing by providing links to the tools.
It just makes me feel bad that some people are trying to help him when there's even a small possiblity that he could be a pervert or something. Even if he was, he wouldn't admit it on here, so that's why I feel suspicious of him.

You can get a wee freeware tool called eraser which wipes stuff out completely, takes a bit of time though. You can find the link in the Downloads - Utilities section of my site if you're interested (link in sig).

If he was a little bit more industrious, he could have found those links himself. I think it is good that he wants to delete his porn-files...there is enough on the Internet as it is. I don't know if it is illegal to download porn in the UK. I am sure though it is not illegal to delete them. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, untill I have the proof to the contrary.

people who have kiddie porn on their pc should be locked up in a room with netweiner and forced to listen to the "kl mix masters" mixing. they will think twice after that,
