People Cutting Themselves

Ok I know one of my m8s that cut emself. Arms, legs with knives but why do it.
My m8s dog just died and he cut its name out with a big blade on his arm. I told em to go get help and he just laugh in my face.
But this according to a lot of doctors is on the increase.

there used to be a sticky here a while back done by balamm (sp?) on suicide self harm etc. I used to do it out of stupidity/attention/depression and im sure thats why most do it. Just ignore them, they are after the attention so dont give them it and they will stop! But if you go 'please dont do it yada yada' they will out of attention seeking... hope it helped :)

Now that's not so bad if his dog is just called 'rex' or something.
But had it been called 'timothy the dog junior the third' then it would be a problem ;)

these are two different things......
first of all there are the cutters that do it out of depression.... in which case i agree, most often it is a want of attention, a cry for help. Feeding too much into may give them more reason to continue.... but that isn&#39;t always the case. A good friend of mine didn&#39;t and people didn&#39;t know about it for a long time.
Secondly, there is scarification, cutting, etc that&#39;s done as a means of "body art"... but that&#39;s usually done by a professional or an artist, and as a way of self expression, rather than because a tattoo was too explensive :P especially since one method includes a tattoo gun without any ink. I know that&#39;s a little off topic but well, there you are

self harm is reported to be on the increase and each self harmer does it for different reasons, attention is never one of them. Some people find it difficult to deal with stress, the stress feels like it is building up inside and they have no way to express their feeling, maybe they can&#39;t cry, maybe the have no-one to talk to, cutting themself provides a physical pain which they use to balance out their emotional pain, and to release the pain that is inside.

your friend will not stop doing this until he accepts that he wants to deal with his world a different way, sometimes people stop when they have a life changing experience others see a shrink. The best thing that you can do is just be a good mate, let him you are there if he needs to talk but that you&#39;re not going to get on his case if he dosn&#39;t wanna talk.

When I was around 8, I almost cut of my finger with a razor blade. I still can see the scar half way through my finger.

My gf used2cut herself cuz she was depressed.so i todl her every cut she did,id cut myself cept deeper.i remeber one day her friend todl me she slit her veins on her ankles so i slit my arm 3 tmies,giant slits,and sent her pix of it.she hasnt cut herself since......

Get therapy, fer crying out loud, and stay away from knives.

at least she stopped. It was stupid but it shows he is comitted ;)

Self mutilation (self harm) of cutting oneself is a symptom of a medical illnesss - same as weezing is for cancer victems so it&#39;s not so funny...............unless you were to do it by jumping off a building with a variety of lengths of chicken wire wrapped around yuo thus your arms falling, then your legs, then your head, and torso at different intervils :)
