Girls are thinking about boys, boys are thinking about girls.
The nasty ones are thinking about embarassing you and trying to trip you up

Depends who you get in with, everyone is different. ;)
Being neutral and listening to what THEY talk about is a good idea though, get an idea of what they generally like and dont go overboard on it.

According to my 16 year old son "cool" is not cool. However, I think he is being deliberately mis-leading. His friends are bit Lord of the Rings gothic types so I am not sure they are especially typical.
My daughter is nearly 14 and is into art in a big way. Apparently, Japanese stuff is really in. Neon Genesis is the business it would seem, if that means anything to anyone. Any yoofs out there agree?
Music is anyone's guess. However, from what I have seen you could get by with "Muse" and "System of A Down". The right mixture of up to date but credible that a teacher might like and know.
But hey, I am 47 - what do I know? Skweeks you are still just a babe in arms.
My musical taste makes me a Yikket (I have no idea  ) according to my kids.

You are probably right, although I have been rather thunder struck by the amount of Japanese stuff on my computer. It would appear to be very popular. I can't get to grips with it myself.
I do like Foamy the Squirrel; which I must say did make me laugh and her Lenore comics are also funny (if somewhat disturbing).

There is a page with free cartoons to download. Not exactly Micky Mouse but has funny moments - my kids find it amusing. The Nuts (I think) episode is a bit violent.

that is a must! Any teacher who can pull one of the gobbies child makes the teacher great! Also get involved with the students, makes it more fun for them :)

take the piss out of them and let them take the piss out of you.
i have the most respect for this one teacher that i can spend half a lesson arguing with over something completely random.

Ok
back from the day at School
it went Smooooooooooooth
The objective-not my choice  -
cover a 5 by 9 meter stage backdrop with
Russian Motives (its russian theme week-wtf?)
some serious group issues - but i cracked it
4 girls who do exactly the same and copy each other (they where the "technically" best artists)
2 heavy metal punk chiks - who i forced to do their graffiti over the nice girls above
2 rich kids - with partitial if none interest in what they where doing
1 heavy metal dude loner - ambitious
1 selfstanding girl - abit in the cloads - but creativly the best but easily distracted by clouds
there was no time for any social cause we got to cover that mega sheet.
i guess if your long term teach - they try to break you.
No problems
and
thanks for the tips
;)
Good to hear you made it back in one piece Zedaxax
