Maybe in my day we just didn't have "clicks"...i went to School, worked hard, overcame some things and achieved very high grades....i was not a swat but had to work hard (i have a form of dyslexia which i pretty much overcame) i understood things quickly. I was captain of the swimming team but i was not a "jock"......i was just an ordinary student as was everyone else.

Year 10-11, I snapped and beat the shit out of those same people in return. Hospitalised a few of them as well.

you don't listen to classical music ?....you are missing something special. With todays audio equiptment you can truely appreciate it without having to buy expensive tickets. My youngest daughter is named Elise after "fur elise"

download (sorry buy) some classical music and listen to it loud in a darkish room or with your eyes closed :D Not all classical is to my taste but every now and then i like to drive my teenage son out of the house

So I was a jockswat ?....well at least you didn't call me a sweatyjock  ..please though try not to use anything resembling a jock to describe me...... haggis and kilts... yuk :x

I was a geek and a jock.

I was in what they called "The Science and Technology Program".

Basically you had to graduate with more credits than the rest of school.
(like taking Calculus and Partial and Differential Equations)

I also played a little football and ran track.

I can't believe I was actually in the MARCHING BAND!! :x

I did get suspended from school for a week for fighting off the schoolbus in the morning.

I'm a musician. I hang out with people who will be music, musical theatre, theatre, or dance majors. I also write a lot and one of my plays got put on at the school but very few people saw it becuse the person who did advertising got stoned too much. So the artistic type I guess. But I don't get beat up, because until 7th year I had a temper like a crack whore. I once threw a kid off a set of bleachers for saying something about my mother. But then I mellowed out, without the help of drugs. And the whole, "Don't mess with him or he'll beat you until you cry" repuation stayed with me.

I'm in highschool right now, and I'd say I'm a drifter.

I really dislike HS. I don't get involved with anything, I don't join any clubs, sports, go to games, etc. I just go to school everyday, do nothing half the time, come home, and get on with my life. 90% of the school doesn't even know I exist.

I was the Scholar/Jock.

My father was the President of the School Board.

As a consequence, I wasn't terribly popular with anyone; teachers or students, but since the teachers had a vendetta against my dad, they had one against me, as well.

I was "unofficially" offered a football scholarship to the University of Wisconsin as a sophmore (by scouts who had come to look at a senior tailback during an intra-squad scrimmage).

I was never allowed to start a game, however, because all the coaches were Teacher's union officers.

Never played football again, either (wrecked my knees in a motorcycle accident).

I was noncommital in class (11th out of a class of 423) but had the highest PSAT/NMSQT-ACT-SAT scores in the school's history.

People were a bit surprised.

I had my own little vendetta going, you see. :D

Apart from that, I was the wallpaper. My only friends were the off-beat ones and insane/bizarre girls. For some reason, I always got along with the wacko's

Then again, we were the Latin/language class - idiots, slackers, pissing of the science types.

In Belgium you have to have at leat 50% on every main subject to pass the year. Basically, if you don't get a 55% average they won't let you pass <_<
I had to double 5th year in highschool because I failed economics and maths, Funnily enough I got an average of 80% the next two years

I would appreciate it if someone could do the effort to explain this freaky education system to me.

In Belgium you finish elementary school at age 11-12. Highschool is age 12-18. We get exams at least twice a year. You cannot chose your subjects you can only chose a package. Everyone is obligated to take maths for example. We have 3 different departments. BSO, to learn a profession, TSO, to learn sth technical and ASO, general education. You need an ASO degree to go to college or uni, or, in some cases a specialised TSO degree.
At uni we have exams twice a year as well. You need a 60% average to pass the year. Most courses last 4 year...

You forget KSO - art education.

Generally, you get three exams/year from age 12-16, the two from age 17-18 (assuming you don't have to redo a year). However, I don't think you absolutely need a ASO degree for university - my cousin didn't.

Five if you've got a good fakbar...

No - just the Letteren fakbar. The smoke-filled 19th century dump we call home, with moderately-priced alcohol, frequent free - euh - "vaten" (kegs ?) from the profs, and general humiliation (Neanderthal Night, anyone ? :D )

I think I'm getting it, with a few minutes delay.

... but explain anyway ?

erm see...I used to study at VUB. And we have this thing against the students from Leuven (well, not really, it's all folkloristic). We call them 'kaloten', from 'katholieken'.
We sing stuff like ' A bas les calotes' and we basically make fun of you

Goddamnit, it hit me -

In naam van K.B.S. doet open 't café
De Brusselaar sluipt door de stad
Hij dorst naar het bier in zijn Brabantse stee
Doet open of 't café ligt plat

You're one of them godless VUB'ers , aren't ya ?

Heh heh - a girl I know studies there now. What's it like ?

EDIT : posted just after you did. I know about the rivalry, just didn't really get it. Must be a slow day :P

Leve VUB

In onze kring zitten vele fitte gasten

That's my club, VSKM, was praeses last year :P

I absolutely loved studying there. Great campus, parties every night and Luigi rocks :D

I don't think we have a song - at least I haven't heard it. Then again, we're one of the smallest clubs in Letteren. Which has it's advantages :)

A fellow Arts student (that's how the KUL site translates Letteren, anyway). Nice.

Though I don't study any languages - what a disaster that would be. If it ain't Dutch, I can barely communicate

(-> just read my posts for proof - Vlenglish, as my old prof used to call it)

I went to school with jazzthefunk. (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showuser=115925) Me and another mate had this trick where we'd ask him to come over for a second (as if was going to tell him something) and then as he got close make a dramatic dive off our chairs and he'd get in trouble for "pushing people off their stools". Worked at least 5 times a week throughout highschool

Well?? what were u in highschool ? a geek ? freek ? jock? cheerleader?

you tell me !

and if you are in school now what r ya ?
Nothing.

An outcast, a bloody pariah.
My friends sold me out.

that's grades 7-9, came out of it paranoid, and believing I was worthless.

Grades 10-11, I had the record in hours of absence without leave, had stopped caring about things but still made it without being expelled, got two scholarships for being gifted. Did group-assigments on my own, 'cuz the others were "busy", in short I was the one got used all the time by the other, "cool" kids.

Grade 12 I had enough, stopped doing stuff for others, and got new friends, sort of.
At the end of it, my grades were crap though.

Awwwwwww!

You're sweet! :)

i wasn't that popular though....i didn't go out the clubs, didn't drink, smoke or do drugs and i'd been with the same guy since i was 14. I just wasn't considered COOL!

NOt that it bothers me. A "cool" girl once said to Liam that i was a geek. Liam said "i'd rather her be what you consider a geek than have her be a complete mutt like you"

Go liam! :D
