Looking 4 Floppy Drive For Camera

Hello all, I am currently looking for a floppy drive replacement for my Sony Mavica camera.
The installed drive has the following information....

TEAC FD-01 H
P/N: 19308250-01
TEAC Corp.
Made in Malaysia

I found a site....

$119 installed or $91 for the drive.
There has to be a cheaper place to get this internal floppy drive :huh:

I doon't know much about this camera but:

This is what makes the Mavica cameras so popular, images are stored on regular 1.44MB floppy diskettes. Immediately after taking pictures all you do is pop it into your floppy drive and view the pictures. No fancy card reader or special software is required, the images are standard JPG format.

Doesn't say you need a special floppy drive just a normal one,here in the UK they only cost £7(about $10) new.


And this is what no Mavica owner wants to see -- the dreaded "Disk Error C:13:xx" message.  It means either a drive or diskette problem exists, in my case all I had to do was reformat the floppy disk.


I take it this is the drive in the camera ?

the floppy drives are about half as<s> thin </s> thick.


lol id much rather get a CD mavica. its better...


something being better isnt really a new concept ya know :lol:


sure its another 300 usd but ur mavica is prolly already outdated and this disk error message will prolly pop up again and again after swap-out lol. mind as well switch cameras&#33;

Yes cwctv, the drive is installed in the camera.
It is definitely dead as I have tried several new formated floppy&#39;s.
The drive also doesn&#39;t sound that healthy while running either.

atiVidia, I did purchase a new Sony Mavica CD-350, but the wife is not able to get &#39;extreme&#39; close ups of her ebay items as she did with the older mavica.
I thought that if I could find a cheap replacement drive she would get off my back...lol.

I fail to acknowledge the motive of resorting to 1.44MB floppys for storage of your digital images - simply on the basis that flash cards (xD, SD, MMC etc.) lack the mechanical mechanisms that floppy disks possess, whilst simultaneously complying with storage demands.

It is an older camera that was out before the use of media cards.
She really likes the 10x macro zoom and I was wanting to repair it for her.
The Sony Mavica CD-350 stores images on 156MB mini-cd&#39;s and can also record 90 minutes of mpeg.

Cool, Mini CDs are dirt cheap too. It&#39;s a progressive innovation in similarity to Hitachi&#39;s digital camcorder that has the capability of recording to DVD-RAM.

Well, I found another guy on ebay that will repair it for &#036;75.00 (drive+service), but there has to be a way to order this thing.
Gonna have to stop by the tech store and see if they can get it.
